Rapidshare is currently downloading at super fast speeds, although that has not been the case before the last month or so. It is widely used on a classical music site I use a lot but I have seen very little porn available there.
RS had a download restriction for free-users that limited the download to 30 kb, so when the download finished you might have already forgotten what you downloaded and when you started the download in the first place. 
Since a few days there are no restrictions any more but I expect that to change again. So get it while you can.

RapidShare Limits Public Download Traffic to Drive Away Pirates
Swiss-based file-hosting service RapidShare is about to take a drastic step in its ongoing efforts to drive away pirates. Starting later this month free users of the service will be limited to sharing just 1 gigabyte a day while paid users will be allowed to transfer up to 30 gigabytes to the public. RapidShare CEO Alexandra Zwingli says that the new measures will prevent abuse by persistent copyright infringers.

The thing to remember is YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. If it's free don't expect much if anything. One thing to remember about Rapidshare is they go toe to toe in the courts. If a file sharing service has your back, legally, it's Rapidshare. Oron threw everybody under the bus when they got called to task. I fear the other shoe hasn't hit the floor on that one. Plain and simple if you're going to want optimum performance from a file service you're going to have to pay something.
