Requiem for Tim (and all Tim's in the world)
Dear Tim.
This morning I have seen the message in my newspaper that you died.
So young; only twenty years of age.
Your parents were so brave to post your farewell letter, so the whole world is finally able to hear your cry:
Dear father and mother,
All my life I have been mocked, harassed, bullied and excluded.
You both are fantastic.
I do hope that you are not angry.
So long, Tim.
I don't know you, Tim. But I do know others who did the same thing and I am sure that such a deed is often the consequence of intolerance of others.
Freedom.
It is a matter of give and take
They say.
But if they refuse to take,
what you can give;
and refuse to give,
what you must take;
what good is freedom?
Rest in peace Tim.
Who has removed the sun from your eyes
Who has extinguished the light in you
Who changed your red cheeks into pale
Who chased away all your dreams
Who broke your little heart
And colored your eyes black
Who did not do what he had promised
Who choked the laughter in your throat
Made you clench your fists
Who did murder that open-minded boy
That always stands up when it falls
Who made it impossible to straighten your back
Destroyed your joy to play
Who broke your wings in the joy of flight
Who passed you without noticing
Who betrays here your faith
Why was nobody listening
To your cry for respect
Who was the one that did forget
That the future should be yours
Who did, just as I, love you not enough
Who did, just as I, love you not enough
