The death was announced today of the comedian Rik Mayall. Starting out with characters such as Kevin Turvey then Rick in the Young Ones, The Comic Strip; with Ade Edmonson as The Dangerous Brothers ( vicious slapstick routines) ; Alan B'stard in the new Statesman teaming up again with Ade in Bottom as well as cameo roles in Blackadder. He also made 2 films - drop Dead Fred and Guest House Paradiso. No info on cause of death - just that an ambulance was called to an address in Sth London, he had a quad bike accident several yrs back and was in a coma for several days and apparently had had health problems since then.

and 2 fav clips from The Young Ones

The Footlights team are played by Emma Thompson; Hugh Laurie; Stephen Fry and Ben Elton

bumped into him in the US in replays of the "Young Ones" on cable TV here in the US. One of our first exposures (beside Fawlty Towers) to British sitcoms....BRILLIANT! Loved to smoke some weed and watch this series when I was in college. I still laugh today...go figure

Thanks Rik! RIP buddy!
