In most cases, germs don't survive without a host. A grocery cart is not a good host.
There are very few instances where germs can survive a few hours.
Unless the person who just pushed the cart away before you grabbed it was sweating, or sneezed on the hand, and you touched it, there really is much worry.
Sanitizers are a great marketing scheme, and they do relieve people fears. They are very useful in some areas, like gyms.
Germs also have to stay very warm. Wouldn't last but a few minutes around here.
People on chemo need to be very cautious. Don't go anywhere, where gloves, wear a mask. Don't go grocery shopping. Mostly it's because of the air. Walking through an area where someone has just exhaled.
And taking money or receipts from a cashier.
