I love scifi. Favorite genre. Specifically Cyberpunk.
My favorite scifi movie (despite it being bad) is Gunhed, and I'd like to see Johnny Mnemonic and I cannot wait for the Neuromancer movie with Hayden Christensen as Case *slurp slurp*

I'm no scifi geek - more of a scifi amateur, but, I have and love:
1) All of the original Star Trek, all of TNG, all of DS9 (I neither love nor have Voyager or Enterprise)
2) Babylon 5
3) Star Wars
4) FireFly (WHY did that have to be cancelled so soon :( )

I forgot about Star Wars and Firefly, apparently Nathan Fillion is trying to buy the rights to it so he can make it again. Nathan Fillion = god, lol.
Star Trek is good too.

I wish William Gibson or Neal Stephenson would write something new.

William Gibson is writing new stuff, but nothing cyberpunk, I don't think.

4) FireFly (WHY did that have to be cancelled so soon :( )B.

I saw an ad this afternoon that "Firefly" will soon be airing on "The Science Channel" if that helps. The promotion called it a "Premiere" so I don't know if it has new episodes or not...but the build up kind of made it look like it could.

No, it's just re-runs unfortunately.

Cheers - but it must be a network premier or something - because I know some REALLY die-hard fans and if there was even a smell of new stuff they'd tell me ... 50 times!

Battlestar Galactica is fan-fucking-tastic. I was just so disappointed at how it ended. I understand why it was so ridiculous, but it still doesn't make me feel any better about it hahaha.

I have a library of 1500 books on SF,all read many years ago. (1970-1995). It was pure magic since I could imagine the scenes according to my taste. Not that many of today's movies are not very good, but a book is still a book.

I loved BSG and the original Stargate series, but my Sci Fi favorites are all the books by Frank Herbert, David Lynch's movie Dune, and the Dune and Children of Dune miniseries from the SyFy channel. I also loved the UK series Red Dwarf, and the current and some former Dr. Who.

Downloaded a copy of "Outlander' tonight. Thought it was Sci-fi but its actually horror/adventure. Kind of a cross between Alien and Predator but set in medieval Viking Norway. Oh yeah, there are spaceships in it, heyheyhey.

This is the problem with trying to find science fiction these days. Much of what gets classified as science fiction is either really fantasy, or is what I call "space Westerns", where instead of chases on horseback and a shootout at the OK corral you have spaceships chasing one another and raygun fights, but the themes are still the same - the goodies chase the baddies and beat them after a lot of fighting.

Now I am not a literary snob and I don't suggest that people with those kind of literary tastes need to apologise for the fact, it's just that it's not the kind of science fiction I enjoy. Many times I have talked to someone and they said "Yeah I like SF too", and when we get down to serious discussion it turns out that they (usually it's a he) actually have quite different things in mind when they refer to "science fiction".
