Rogue One proves a good, modern Star Wars movie can be made.
I'm hoping for better since J.J. Abrams left. He's a fanfic, author without the intergrity to know what he's doing. i.e. take iconic character and ships, then dose something with them other than keep to the spirit of the source.
He ruined Star Trek, and did nothing original with Star Wars. God! the scenes that were ripped of from the three original Star Wars movies, were fan-boy wank fest(lets get the falcon in this as fast as possible, followed by Han, then a lightsabre that should have been crushed in the immense gravity of a gas giant.).
The original scenes needed common sense applied to them. Although Lucas went off the rails. At least he kept kept the trained Vader and the untrained Skywalker apart until the end of the second movie. Abrams on the other hand, lets put the trained Ren and the untrained Jaina in a duel and have her survive. And Luke had Obi-Wan, he didn't learn about the force by- whatever way Jaina learned to use the mind trick, lightsabre forms, and telekinesis.
I'm gonna shut up now. I'm can bitch like nothing else on earth when it comes to Sci-Fi.
