So I got a couple messages today asking if I really did go out and hustle. :? And the answer is yes. At first, yea, I did it because I needed to get some money for food and clothes and all. But by the time that I pretty much called it quits on that I was doing it because I liked doing it. Having sex, getting paid for it, and making more than the minimum wage too. Yes there were bad times. I had stuff stolen from me, and it was hard to find a place to sleep where you didn't have to be half awake to keep an eye on things.
I was one of the lucky ones though. There are way too many young guys and gals that are still out there because they were kicked out of their house because they are gay. Did you know that about 40% of all the homeless kids are gay? Did you know that just here in L.A. there are about 3,000 homeless kids. It makes me absolutely sick to think that someone would kick THEIR OWN kid out on the street because they are gay. But that is exactly what happened to Nick, my boyfriend. I wasn't kicked out. My parents died in a car crash when I was 8. I ended up leaving an on and off foster system and came out here to L.A. Nope, didn't have any big dreams of making it in the movies or anything, I just didn't want to freeze in the winter because I grew up in Chicago.
I never did the "Suck For a Buck" thing though. I started out a little bit higher at $20. Most guys back then, and now, like me even, have at least a $20 bill in their wallet.
I found this pretty good video on YouTube the other day that shows what the typical road looks like after getting tossed out. I've seen the results, and it's not nice. Some guys get lucky and make it through OK, others don't.
