Suddenly unknown at GH

Suddenly I was unknown for GH and I should enter my password. And this password, given a long time ago, suddenly was invalid. So I had to get a new password. How long will that last? What shall that be???? I really don't understand that.

I would be happy if anyone will give me an answer!

Unfortunately Shelter....I understand your issue because I've had this happened to me a few times over the past couple of months and eventually...everything is functioning fine. However, speaking of "unknown"...I can say this since I am thinking of deleting my account here altogether from other reasons more important to me than this. You see...since I've become a member of this forum and when ever I progressed my status to a certain levels such as VIP...the section where there are individuals who are acknowledged for their obtaining progress...I have never been acknowledge this way. After seeing recent members getting this recognition...I searched that category just to see if my name was mentioned and there was nothing. Nonetheless...I moved forward and just responded to certain topics that I could respond to from my actual experience. Hopefully, your situation will be just a temporary situation and all will be well in the long run. Best wishes....JW

Hello Shelter!

I had a kind of problem a couple of years ago reminding me of what you talk about: One day I couldn't login to GH, and I got this automatic message I should check my username and password, which of course I did but nothing positive happened.

So I sent a contact message to the staff and got several suggestions what could be the problem. I tried many different things, but the thing that worked was when I changed back to Firefox as my standard browser. I had been using Chrome for some months, and it had worked totally O.K. in the beginning, but one day out of the blue I couldn't login to GH, and the tricky thing was that I didn't have login problems with any other site.

What I came to understand had happened was that there was a new version of Chrome which as one of it's problems was, that the new version didn't let people in on some sites, one of them being GH.

I think my problem from a couple of years ago reminded me at least at bit of your problem and maybe my story can be of some help. The lesson I took was to think much more about what browser I'm using and if a new browser version can be a cause of a specific problem...

I'm confused :?- If it wouldn't recognise your password how did you change it, as I presume to change a password you need to be able to use the original

I've tried it three, four, five times - but my password was invalid. So I said I've forgotten my password and I received a new one and again I was a "member"! That happened perhaps six or eight months ago for the first time and now today again.

And Gorgik, my browser is for ages FIREFOX. And the last Firefox update has been on November 5, 2015. I can't believe that that would have been the reason.

This forum runs on an older version of BulletinBoard software. There are bound to be errors from time to time. It happens.

I'm just happy you were able to resolve the error enough to access the forum again. This place wouldn't be the same without you Shelter :big hug:

I'll pass this along to the 'brain-trust' for evaluation.

The forum is using an antiquated VBulletin - its really held together with band aids, chewing gum, and some string. :rofl:

It is unnerving to hear that a member is suddenly unknown but since it has occurred more than once and to more than one member it allows me to relax a little - glitches, like sh-t, happen :blushing:

Should it happen to someone else they can request a new password by sending the "I forgot my password" or by contacting a staff member who can send a new password to them. Once the member is back into the forum I would strongly suggest they change the password that was sent to them.

In the interim we will do what we can to look into the problem

:thumbs up: I'm really a happy guy - GH has proven that it is democratic. Everybody here is equal! Thank you! Now I don't feel myself as discriminated! p
