I guess my Swedish summer has been pretty close to gb:s Irish : Windy, rainy, and pretty fuckin' cold. Let's say about 12-16 C most days. We haven't had descent summer temperatures until from about 12-13 August when we've had 23-25 C, but then again rainy and windy the last 2-3 days...

...but I know large parts of central and southern Europe have been excruciatingly hot, more than 35 C, and that's too much for me. I'd rather have chilly 15 C than 35-40 C...that kind of heat is awful...

Summer is beautiful and warm and sunny weather must be - but these temperatures have been unfamiliar to the most of us here as well.

I would like 25° C = 77° F from January till December. -

I actually noted my personal summer heat record - 41 C - on Hauptbahnhof Köln and I think it was 1994 (or 1995). I was travelling by train with the man I call the big love of my life from Karlstad and Gothenburg, Sweden, via Copenhagen and Hamburg to Köln, and then from Köln to Brügge, Belgium.

Since the train Hamburg-Köln had a very effective air conditioning, we didn't really understand what awful heat would hit us when we opened the doors of the train and stepped out into the Kölner Hauptbahnhof. What lay ahead of us was the four swettiest hours of my life so far; four hours on a train with almost no air conditioning...

My conclusion? If you have to travel by train in extreme summer heat, make sure you go by GERMAN train... They know their shit concerning air conditioning...

We have a lovely week ahead of late summer. Warm, low humidity.
It will be good for my new tenants. Both apartments are newly rented, with leases starting in September.
But they can move in any time, and the furniture hauling won't be too bad with the conditions.

Unfortunately in South Florida there isn't much change between summer and fall. In "winter" we'll get a few chilly mornings though. On the plus side, we dodged a low-end hurricane this weekend (hurricane season is the only summer bummer), but now I have to work on Monday

Is Summer Over?

When does summer end? That is the question. :thinking:

Society queens decree that summer officially ends on Labor Day. (The first Monday in September, for those another countries.) "My Dear, one simply does not wear white after Labor Day.":rolling eyes:

But, the Autumnal Equinox does not occur until September 23, in the U. S. Astronomically that makes it the official beginning of Autumn.:thinking:

Weather wise one feels that summer should now be winding down. Today in Southern California, we had a nice rain storm this AM and the high temp was only 77. (25 C). The weatherman, however. is now predicting a high temp. of 95 on Sunday. (35 C):whew::whew:

I love the fall. The leaves turning bright yellow and red, night getting dark, and wet roads glisten in street light glow, and the air gets so fresh. So wanderfull to take a walk in the evening, air is moist and bright, leaves are falling in the slight autumn breeze:heart: Too bad that the summer this year wasn't a proper summer at all... Maybe have to take a vacation to some sunny paradise, just to get some perspective I usually hate beach holidays, but since I visited beach this year only twice because of the poor weather...
