It's the story of this gay British cryptologist who decoded the Nazi enigma code. He was one of the greatest minds that helped end WWII but was prosecuted for 'homosexual acts'.

He is trully one of the greatest gay heroes of our time and it's such a tragedy to loose this guy to homophobia and bigotry.

Looks like the movie critics love it. I hope Benedict Cumberbatch gets an Oscar for this.

There's something so captivating about Mr Turing's life and personality that makes him beautiful inside and out. Here's one of my favorite quotes from him:

"A computer would deserve to be called intelligent if it could deceive a human into believing that it was human"

I'm certain I'll watch this movie when it's released in Sweden (I'm swedish) and Benedict Cumberbatch is a brilliant actor.

But what I'd like to see in the future is a movie about one particular moment in Turing's life - the legendary cours on the philosophical foundations of mathematics in Cambridge university in 1939. Turing being one of the students and the professor being none less than Ludwig Wittgenstein. Intellectually and philosophically they were adversaries - when Wittgenstein said "yes", Turing was "no" and vice versa.

But they were both gay.

And I believe that's still considered to be the standard of judgment today.

As a gay computer scientists, Turning is somewhat of a tragic hero to me. I'm also a big fan of Cumberbatch, so I'm really looking forward to getting to watch this!

I had initially wanted to watch it because he was a brilliant cryptologist, mathematician, computer scientist, and is considered one of the fathers of modern computing, and the initial trailers talked a lot about his war efforts in WWII, so that got me pretty interested.... But all this talk about him being a homosexual in the film makes me more curious to watch, alone if I have to (probably by the end of this week)

On a related note, one of my friends said the only thing he didn't like about the movie was that Alan Turing was "a fucking faggot" :/

It's sad that even now, of all the contributions you've made, and no matter how society has moved forward and benefited from you (it is said that the Allies might not have beaten Hitler without Turing), you'd still be judged as a "faggot" by everyone and not by your actions.

After all your encomias here I'm very curious for this movie. But in the moment I don't know when it will be released here in Germany.
