I guess a lot of us could relate but if you ever remember growing up in your middle and high school years feeling like you didn't fit in? I was one of those guys who lived in a too-quiet neighborhood and really couldn't really relate to some of my classmates, especially those extroverts. It wasn't until my last year of high school that I started to find a little clique, a mixed breed of black, white and biracial kids who listened to rock music mostly. Unfortunately they were still around ninth, tenth or eleventh grade when I left. Now I still feel like an outsider but I no longer feel guilty about it like I used to. I rather stand out than fit in. But did anyone go through that in their teenage years?

I'm still an outsider and I'm grateful for it.

I'm a very introverted person in real life. ^^

I'm sure I never fitted in, always had friends, but I've always had a free spirit of a mind.

Probably developed from my shy years when I was young. Nobody believes I was ever shy, but we all change as we grow. That's why I'd never go back nor do I look back, life's experiences make you as you are, and we all go through those young haunted troubled years! Made me stronger and tougher and understanding, despite being a miserable grumpy old git these days lol :p

Yeah I think I have a free spirit, it just took 19 years to realize it. I'm one of those late bloomers to how society really is. I was a very impressionable kid tho back then, it's just that like many boys, I was confused as to who I was, you know what I mean. Like I was already happy being from a multi-ethnic black American family and being a boy, but something was missing. Then the internet came. :p

I was never an "insider" in high school... only in my last year that I started to skip some classes and go in the park and smoke or whatever... they had this idea that the one who doesn`t skip classes or don`t smoke or don`t drink is a geek or nerd or whatever! What was really hard for me was that everyone was making fun of me..the way I dressed...(my folks were always buying me the cheap worn clothes from second hand or how you call that and in my country those clothes had this specific smell which didn`t go away not even after 10 washes LOL) But, in my last year I started listening to rock music...Metallica mostly and after that some hardcore and thrash and metal, a little black metal and some death and since my city was a small one and there were few rockers, i fit in their group which was awsome!:) Like Mike said: I would never go back to those years ever!

Going a bit off topic here...

JeffPee, I was just looking at your avatar (Rodin's The Thinker) And I was thinking that while it does depict your knack for obscure and profound thought, it still does little to express your other qualities. With that in mind I set out to find you a more appropriate Avatar, one that encompasses all of your qualities. I truly think this Avatar is YOU...
