So overloaded servers caused other filehosts to shutdown? I don't get it :thinking:

Erm... a little sceptical.
Why would hosts like filesonic still load the site but say you cant share now?
Its jus everyone clamming up coz of the MU scare.
Im pretty sure there will be other ways to share files soon
possibly a file host based in the Cayman islands or something

Other sites are freaking out because of what happened to MU. That's why FileServe and FileSonic are limiting their services.
Also, it's not quite accurate to say that Megaupload was closed by the FBI. It was seized by the FBI, pursuant to a court order. That's an important difference. MU is still there. It's just not accessible by the public. There are rumblings that legitimate MU users may attempt to obtain a court order to compel its opening again, albeit on a limited basis like FileSonic and FileServe.
The FBI cannot act on its own to close a site. It can petition a court to seize a site, but that's different than closing it.

Sorry but I find this quite ludicrous. Even without court order FBI can threaten file hosts and that is what is happening now. They don't have to have a court order to close the site because its all extra-judicial.

they can threaten, just like turning up at ur door and threating to arrest u but cant actually do it without a warrent or u pulling a gun on em lol
They did and do need a court order to sieze a website
correction to sieze an american site, which the americans are cleaverly now calling any .com or any .org sites...
MU had servers actually based in the US hence they got a court order
they even need a court order now to put a gps tracter on yea lol
probably less hassle and paperwork if they just shot u at this stage lol
the arrests everyone is all worried about wasnt carried out by the fbi only requested.
the guys are facing extradition and might not even get into the fbi hands, hell look at Julian Assange hes still being sought for by sweeden and the british still hasnt extradiated him.
Hong Kong aka China might not do it lol, what would the americans do then? recall their loans..... oh wait... lol
the dust is still in the air over all this and we just got sit back and c where it lands,
hell i remember RS changing and everyone running around sayin it all gona change now, we're all doomed and few months later we were all arguing who was better FServe or FSonic lol
