Time to dump Rapidshare???

I received this email today. I'm not sure if it's real or not. If it is I will be using a different file host. Will have to do some research.

Dear Customer #xxxxxxx

we hereby inform you that paragraph IV.(2) of our Terms of Use will be technically implemented and activated on 20. October 2009.

Premium Accounts whose files use more than 25 GB (25.000.000.000 Bytes) of storage will be subject to the file inactivity regulations, which effectuate the automatic deletion of inactive files. A file is inactive if it has not been downloaded for at least 90 days.

For Premium Accounts that use less than 25 GB of storage, the storage time for inactive files is unlimited.

If you do not agree to the Terms of Use, you are entitled to cancel the contractual relationship within a time limit of four weeks as of receipt of this notification. Should you not make use of your right of cancellation, the alterations are presumed to be accepted and become an effective integral part of the contract.

hmmm, I dont like rapidsuck much, they have screwed me a lot..but do you pay for it? all my dealing with them have been free to me...and they fucked me

Yes have paid for an account for over a year now. I originally started paying because the sites I was downloading Movies, TV Shows & Music from all used Rapidshare. Then I decided to upload files and share them so continued paying.

For me paying is no real issue. I just want a file host that has enough benefits for myself and also anyone that would like to download my files.

Mediafire looks good. They seem decent to free users. And i don't download so much of the Movies etc any more.

No... and I have never had a file deleted on Rapidshare. I have been lucky there.

They are going to start deleting files, if you are a premium member and use over 25gig of space. If the file hasn't been downloaded for 90 days.. its gone.

Rapidshare deleted a lot of files I was trying to get after someone had posted all those brilliant links. I guess Mediafire or Sendspace would be better file uploads.

I don't think this is a change in their policy. They seem to be saying they're going to start enforcing it... the inactivity... maybe they got some new software that automates pruning.

Personally, if I've posted something and nobody has wanted it for 90 days, I delete it myself, or sometimes repost. Otherwise, it's stale bread that's just going to get moldy.

I also have some personal files there as well.

I may even think about using my own web host to host the files. I just have to set up my downloading system again. So it acts like a file host and people can't post the links elsewhere.

Rapidshare sucks. Slow and long wait. I prefer MediaFire, Sendspace, or MegaUpload. Somethings wrong with Deposite file lately. It stops in the middle or when youre almost finish with your download. Thats just my opinion as a free member

and where is the problem? They delete files not downloaded for 90 days... I would never host personal files on rapidshare, tehre for I got several HDs.

Rapidshare is still the best filehoster for me: fast, cheap and a very good support.

hmmm I believe that uploaded files are never as safe as files on a personal HD. I dn't see the advantages
