I have a question: Is your partner more important to you than yourself?
I have been in love before, but that is a question I could never in answer...
Does true love mean that your partner's happyness comes before your own.
Would you give your life to save that one person.

I've been in love several times in my life and some of them were very dominant and possessive to the degree where I recall one of them had mentioned to me that in order for us to stay together, I should "dummy" myself down because I was too intelligent and it made him feel intimidated. Now mind you, these relationships that I am mentioning occurred when I was younger and new to the lifestyle. However, my last two boyfriends were very encouraging and pushed to achieve my fullest potential. With that being said, you should never put someone's happiness before your own. Happiness should be equal amongst both parties involved.

There's no definite answer, there's room to give and take on both sides.

You can sacrifice some of your own personal happiness to make your partner happy, for example. Maybe he likes country music and you don't. You should still be mature and loving enough though that if his favorite country band comes through town, you surprise him with a pair of tickets and go with him and pretend to like it just for the night.

But if he's requiring you do to things you don't want to do, and you're always the one sacrificing then it's possibly not a healthy relationship.

As in all things, both material and emotional, it takes the right balance, failing that, a report is likely to go off soon.

All this said, in words and a cool head.

Unfortunately, love not have always the right balance.

Often the heart has reasons that reason does not know.

The question of who is more important dosen't arise, I need him as much as he needs me. Which is the most important terminal on a battery, the positive or the negative? The current must be the same in both for the battery to work. Is the brake more important than the throttle when driving a car? They do opposing things but the car would be useless with one and not both. Love is not worked out on a spreadsheet, it is not logical or parseable. Who knows how it works, I'm just glad it still does after all these years together.
