Trouble playing some of vids

I am having toruble playing some of the vids i download in the mp4 formate.
Realplayer, quicktime, windows media - none will play them. Is it just me, or my competper any idea what I might be doing wrong

It's always possible the files are corrupted of course, but assuming they're not, I'd have two pieces of advice:

1) be sure your media players are all up to date
2) install VLC (http://anonym.to/?http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)

Another one that can play most file types is the KMPlayer

I second the vlc recommendation - it includes a huge amount of codecs and allows to play almost everything on any platform.
