Hi Guys

I need some help here, a couple of days ago i started deleting programs that i don't use anymore on my Windows 8 operating system Partition, that i had on my previous OS Windows 7 but today when i logged onto Windows 8 after i deleted software a few days ago i stated to playing some Videos in my default player "Media Player Classic - Home Cinema", i hear audio sound but it doesn't show me video:( so i checked to see in my add and remove programs list if i still have a codec or not, according to the list that i have installed > Xvid Video Codec Version 1.3.2 , MyFreeCodec and DviX, but the thing is when i play videos in another player such as DviX Plus Player the video shows, but i don't why it deosn't work on my defaut player and Windows Media Player, I tried installing different codecs, nothing happens it still the same,

I hope someone can help me figure out on how to solve this problem

Thank you very much in advance for helping me.

Yours Sncerely:heart:

Win8 Codecs X86 and X64

I am taking a guess that when you deleted or uninstalled some of the "stuff" that you unintentionally also uninstalled some applications that had also installed codecs...

My recommendation is to try installing the two packages put out by Shark007 namely the Win8 Codec Pack
http://shark007.net/win8codecs.html
and the accompanying Win8 x64 Component if your Win8 is x64
http://shark007.net/x64components1.html

BUT!!! BEFORE you run the installer use 7-Zip to extract each of the installers to a separate directory then run ONLY! the extracted exe that's in that extracted folder. That way you will bypass the advertising crap that's bundled with the regular installer.

Run the Win8 x86 1rst then the Win8 x64 2nd. The installer may uninstall any conflicting codec packs you may have installed but most likely afterward you should regain the use of any media player on your rig to play any video to include .mkv ect ect

More info on Sharks packages are here
http://shark007.net/forum/Forum-Windows-8-Codecs--22
and
http://shark007.net/forum/Forum-x64-Components

and most importantly the rationale behind using 7-Zip to both of the d/l installers BEFORE running the exe

Hope this Helps

Aww thank you very much SaphireX:heart: for your kind comment & helping, sending me a direct link to some recommended codec softwares & some info about the program, that's so nice and kind of you, I'll give these two packages a try right now:) and thanks for letting me know that, I will follow your instructions and use 7-zip to extract all the files in seprate folders first my friend. :big hug: & regarding about that, yesi did uninstall a couple of things that might of unstalled some codecs that was bundled in those softwares, I just clicked Ok and didn't pay attention when i deleted the software when it warned me what will happen if i continued the uninstall process, my bad:(, I should read the warnings first before uninstalling things.

Once again thank you for helping me solve this problem and sending me two direct links to some codec softwares and some info about them, I hope you have a nice Day/Evening/Weekend where you are now & I'll talk to you again soon, take care of yourself & be safe  CP101:cheers:
