I’d say it was much worse when there were bitter arguments over certain topics that are now forbidden. If you like swapping jokes instead of educated guesses and barbed reasoning it would seem better to you.

It was better when I joined about 5 years ago. More activity and more of a buzz. And yes more debates and much more diversity of thought. The argument against that is...

My thinking is that there are members here who live in countries where freedom of expression is a no-no and being gay is illegal. GH might be their only access to the gay community. How sad that this, their gay community, has been defeated on freedom of expression.

It's a lot to expect that the people who own a forum or run it on someones behalf actually care about it. Usually they are only interested in either money or their own narrow interest in one or other of the sections of the forum. The community, actually, interests them very little. If they are honest. I gather this forum is owned by a big network of sites, so, sounds like money is a factor on that front, not community. So one of two things, where money is the big motivator, or 'couldn't be bothered' with sections of the forum they have very little interest in personally attitude?

Am I coming near the truth of it, or am I being too harsh?

Next question is, is there a better experience surfing for porn on this forum now, compared to 5 or 10 years ago? Or is it all pretty much the same standard. I mean of course the porn sections, gay clips, DVDRip's, XXX Streams, Amateur...

Can you basically get the same porn on e.g. the Russian run competitor to GH. How ironic that the Russian gay forum, not quite as big as GH yet, but every bit as active, is now the place to go for freedom to express ideas and diversity of thought. The American run GH is where these freedoms have failed.

Oh well, we can comfort ourselves with porn.:rofl:

Religion and politics are not subjects that most people can have a rational debate about.

If a discussion upsets you, just don't read it. Simple. Why go on to advocate censorship? In fact, you have the option to stop reading this very thread. You can even place posters whose opinions you wish to black out on your 'ignore list'. Amazes me that some feel all that isn't enough, they need broader censorship. Can you explain it for me? As you say rationality is important. So please do answer my question. Can you expand a little on your points?

GH is a forum that is mostly about porn. That's why I came to this forum!

If you are interested in politics, a number of political forums enable you to converse and debate with others.

If you are interested in music, a number of music forums enable you to converse and debate with others?:?

If you are interested in general photography, a number of general photography forums enable you to converse and debate with others?:?

If you are interested in Gaming, a number of Gaming forums enable you to converse and debate with others?:?

Come on haiducii, if you came here for just porn that's okay, but others might want more. If you don't share an interest with others, ignore that thread or section.

I'm too old to be interested in 'Gaymer's corner', but I understand it's there for other people.

I think they should open a Politics sub-forum, fill it up with existing politics threads, and let those who are interested browse it. You can stick to the sections you like, and not bother with that one. Now that's fair and 'live and let live'. Censorship isn't. It never is.

I was a moderator here for a couple of years. Loved it. Great staff. Sadly I had to step down as a family member had a health crisis which is resolved now. I would love to re-join the team and commit to helping out daily. Sadly, I would disagree with the censorship rule and therefore rejoining (presuming they want me :/) is not feasible.

I know at least one other former mod who would also rejoin in an instant, and one or two VIP's who would be very interested.

Perhaps those who prefer a free speech lite GH could step up instead? (*waits for floods of responses to come in*)

How hard could it be to open up a tiny politics sub-forum. I don't think it would be very busy. Put 'not for the faint of heart' as the forum description. But if it really is this huge big problem and issue for the porn purists, then so be it.

Also, while the team is small that can be an advantage, can be more efficient in a way, and more 'settled' and controlled. The forum is being run extremely well, so perhaps best not to try to 'shake things up'.

Pity though. Let's go to that Russian forum mentioned earlier...
