Alright. As topics as "marriage" "gay-marriage" "marriage equality" have been frequently spoken all over the internet, mainstream media, etc... in the last time, I just get into my mind one q. - How should this ceremony look like in case of me ? Yes it's pretty premature when I'm 21 and single, but I don't mind.
So as I'm from central Europe and like a bit "exotic" things and like to travel I've found two perfect ideas. 1. On the beach at sunset, ideally Caribean or southern Spain or Portugal. 2. In Las Vegas with neons all around and with Marilin Monroe as a registar. - this one is maybe better than first one, so I hope that when I will have Mr. Right, It will be already legal to marry a guy in the State of Nevada. :D
And what you guys? Where it would be perfect for you? (Or if you are already married, where was your ceremonial?) At the Townhall ? At your own ranch ? In your favorite disco club? Somewhere in nature?, ... , or even in a church?
Tell me... It's time for dreaming!

I'm past marrying age (unless some RICH old man gets smitten).
Las Vegas. Las Vegas is fun for a week of party, but it's really TACKY. You really want tacky for that day? If you want Nevada, Lake Tahoe is much nicer.

Then there's the choice of the destination wedding. Beautiful setting? Sure. But lots of $$$ for everyone who goes. Many people won't go.

What about an old palace in Budapest, or a boat along that river. It's as beautiful as any place in the world, and it's your home. Your family, your friends. And for decades later, your could revisit the spot.

If I were to do it, I would do local here. Either an upscale older Boston hotel, or on the coast south of the city.

This tackyness is what's best on this idea, really. Budapest is beautiful city, old architecture etc., or also you would like Prague - capital of my country. 8 or even 10 centuries old buildings in historical center, unique panorama with monumental Prague castle (biggest castle on the world) above. But it's not exotic for me. For you as american it is. I'm into such american tackyness as L.V. is. :D

This is a bit of a fantasy of mine, a fantasy that will probably be lived and reimagined only within the conforts of my hopes and dreams, but I would love (and I use the word love very irresponsably, as one tends to do) to get married in an secluded place, devoid from society. A place forlorn, hiding in vast, unseen beauty. Just him and I, looking straight into each other's eyes, holding hands, taking in all the tranquility and fragile hapiness in our little world, reliving our private moments of joy and devotion. We would recite heartfelt vows - promises of delight and loyalty to one another, and we would finalize the ceremony with an embrace, celebrating our own, very personal, vision of love. After that rather emotional ceremony, we would throw a big, decadent blowout party with the ones closer to our hearts; family and friends (you are invited, Sinnerr, among a couple of other Heavenly angels... *cough* Whisper, AleXXX_UK *cough*) were we would dance, sing, and share our happiness. Open bar and all-you-can-eat buffet, too.

After a wild couple of nights, we would return to our schedule, slaves to routine. Building our dreams, and our family, beneath a sheltering sky.

I understand it may sound a bit umpractical... but it's only a dream of mine. And what a dream!

I was with my husband 30 years before we were legally married here in Canada. We got married in a town hall with my brother and sister as our witnesses, went out for a nice dinner and drinks, then told friends and family after. It was short, sweet and accomplished exactly what we wanted to.

I don't think I would get married in a church as I'm not religious...

As of now, I'm thinking outdoors either at the beach or near or in a forest.

Thanks, it's matter of distant future now, as I wrote. But if you would have some good advices you can send it me.

When you (or anyone) will be going to Prague, let me now in advance. It's beatifull city with many fantastic attractions. But also there are things what a visitior should be beware of, like some dishonest taxi drivers, money exchanges and few another things.
And I also could recomend good bars, discos, etc.. which would fit your tastes.

Oh my! As an anti-religion you can't have more dedicated than I to speak against religion in all its glory, but for me marrying my baby in such a place was just to make a point that if you have the money and the guts to do it, the catholic church doesn't care if you were to marry your dog, as long as one of you have the funds available. By marrying Alex in a cathedral I've made my point.;)

Well, thats not my bussines.
But, thanks for sharing. It's another proof that all churches are only about money, property and might.

My friend whether you give directly or indirectly money to churches it doesn't matter, they will in so many ways gets your hand in your pockets by lobbying government for all their little project, I run a business and I have some of my christian employee asking charity for the poor which is 10% for the poor 90% for the church. Your question was about wedding right? Well I've just got married, in a church by a priest in a very catholic settings... and yet I am very atheist... not just the (I don't believe in god kind), i'm the "historian scientific kind" which will slap back with history and scientific verifiable facts. I could have go for the beach (don't like too much sands in my trunks), an epic travel to the old countries (been there, lived there and frankly a city is a city no matter if it's 2000 years old). Took a long time bet with my mom that I would marry Alex in one of the most prominent church in the whole province of Quebec and I won... in fact it was a lot of fun. And the priest who married us participated in the party before and after... he was so drunk  But we also had very interesting discussion about faith and atheistic philosophy.

Outside there was people with signs asking us not to soil the holy place. I won and that was my whole point of marrying in a church... And I wanted the best for Alex, a dream come true for all the years of bickering and bullying he had as a young gay boy in Australia finished in him being a dad and married in a church. He's happy, I'm happy!

It wasn't meaned offensive or so. I'm atheist living and always lived in atheist enviroment. So I have never had anything with a church in common. So I logicaly can't imagine I would go crazy now, as an adult, and would want marriage in church. But for someone from religious enviroment it's probably big satisfaction. I really respect it, althought imagination of me going into a church makes me sick almost.

I go to church for weddings and funerals. What could be better for a ritual?

And when I travel. I'm your typical tourist.

I wish I was a member of this site to get your info before going to prague, I stayed in one of the creepiest hostels in the world, I literally was afraid of being in there.

On the other hand Prague is a very beautiful city so it made up for it.

Anyway, if employees ask you for charity, you can contribute without giving money. You can directly lend an employee(s) (idealy this who asks) for some charity organization. Just give him a command to work for The Salvation Army (or anything) for one week instead working for you. He will be helping and you as well - cos you pays him in this time. I can't remeber how it's called (it has some special name), but I've read about it. Some companies do that.;)
