Why do people always have to make things more complicated than necessary?

Should think 99.9% of posters use normal file extensions like .avi , .wmv, etc. but seems there's always one who has to be different and make things difficult.

Just do not see the point of why people do this, is time wasting and irritating.

Just downloaded four files joined them and then found I had an .ivr file, which I've never heard of and I should think majority of other members haven't either.

This thing won't play in any of the normal movie players, even thought of converting it but even in all the conversion programmes I have this file format does not show up-what is the point of posting something like that- just waste of time searching for the solutions which have so far not been successful and if I eventually can't get it to work at all, also a wasted download.

Well having shot my mouth off expect someone will come up with a simple solution now and make me look silly :)

As far as I know these files are only viewable on RealPlayer.. which you can get for free.

No you don't look silly, I've never heard of it either! If you don't ask you'd never know ;)

With RealPlayer you can record video off the net... but it saves them with this extension - ivr stands for Internet Video Recording.

Thanks for the advice, guys

However looks like I won't be watching that file after all then, I am not installing that shit Real player on my computer!

So as I feared this was a wasted download :-(

Recall using Real many years ago and it screwed up my computer no end and I have not touched it since.

Like I said people should just post normal file formats like .AVI etc.

Saves a load of hassle, shouldn't think people would be too happy installing another player just to watch one file! Especially a dodgy player like the Real! Maybe they have improved the player since the bad old days but I am not taking the chance for just one file-especially not after seeing articles like this below
--------------

PC World magazine named RealPlayer as #2 in its 2006 list The 25 Worst Tech Products of All Time, writing that RealPlayer "had a disturbing way of making itself a little too much at home on your PC--installing itself as the default media player, taking liberties with your Windows Registry, popping up annoying 'messages' that were really just advertisements, and so on." In 2007, it placed RealPlayer, versions 1996-2004, at #5 in its list, The 20 Most Annoying Tech Products

I've never had that trouble with Real Player. I'd say the latest versions are far better anyway. I don't use it often but it's handy for certain things.

Realplayer is useful for downloading videos embedded in webpages when jdownloader can't do it. It's pretty slow, but a good option when nothing else will download it, but there are some that even realplayer won't download.

I downloaded a movie, not realizing that it had an .mkv extension, then couldn't play it until I downloaded a Final Media Player. Even with this, the sound and picture were not synchronized.
