So, what is your profession? What do you do for living? Are you happy with your job? Why?

And just because it would be interesting to hear about what members do for living, and I'm thinking of educating myself a some new profession. Just don't know what yet:D

I'm the boss -:) in a small housing administration. I've six employees and we manage 1.800 living quarters.

I love my job so much because always I've to do with people of all kind. I like it to talk with people and to help them to feel themselves comfortable in their flats. But as well I've to act if someone will not pay the rent or cannot pay the rent. Here I'm working together with a good lawyer. And I'm responsible to the owners of the apartment buildings.

And my beloved BF is a department chief in a big insurance company.

And that's what we will do for living.

I don't know if it will run so well for all times - but in the moment it runs good for us. And both of us we will try that it will go on for a long time.

I test and repair medical equipment, mostly infusion pumps. I've been at it a long time, so it can get boring, but my little group is pretty fun.

I'm a sysadmin in a large education institution - I mostly look after the Linux servers, and the services they provide. Part of my job is providing automated integration between the various systems needed to keep a big college going.

I like my job because there is a nice mix of dealing with problems, planning new services, building new services, a little programming, and every now and then, when my brain needs a break, some fairly monotanous maintenance work needs to get done too.

When stuff breaks it can be very hectic, and I have found myself having a loud argument with a cranky server well aftermidnight the odd time, but most of the time it's not too stressful.

I myself have been an electronic worker in production line, school assistant, sexton, garden worker, machinery worker, car loader in car transport railways and a cleaner. I only included works I've done over half a year. I just wanna educate myself bit higher. I've always read a lot and I'm very systematical and organized person. It's just so hard to figure what would be my dream job. And I'm only 26 years old, and all ready have a house and car, so I'm just looking for smth that I wanna do. Besides my hobbies:)

I work for a 501c charity that helps low income seniors pay vet bills and provide pet food so they can keep their pets. We also do cat and dog rescue and provide spay and neuter services. I love my job as it has so many different parts to it. I mange a thrift store three days a week and the other two involve home visits and picking up donations. I find it so rewarding when we can help a senior keep their beloved pet, I am sure many of you are aware of the extreme cost of any type of animal vet care so you can imagine what it is like for a low income senior who barely can afford food and utilities to have to decide what to do when their pet gets sick. I have had trouble once, I got an elderly lady that had nine cats and was dying of cancer to leave 900,000 dollars to provide money for cat spaying and neutering to low income people in the area. I and several of our volunteers were going three times a week to help take care of her cats and we noticed how her children never came to visit her and found out they had disowned her when their Father died and years later she had a loving Lesbian relationship. The problem I had was the son was very unhappy that she had her lawyer leave that much for cats because it was money he didn't get and he also hated cats so on several occasions he threatened to do me bodily harm, but thankfully he is now being taken care of by the Texas department of corrections on meth manufacturing charges. My partner is a grocery store manger which pays decent but is a very stressful job.

It isn't even the customers that I hate, 90% of the time they're fine, it's the company I work for and the way they get away with treating their employees and profiting off of foreign sweat shop labor mostly.

I fully understand what you mean cacc, i also worked for years for a company like yours, now I work for a company trying to get those 24,000 workers on the same wavelength .... talk and feedback are our strengths .. ..good luck.:thumbs up:

I do not know if "wavelength" is the right expression in English but it means
to get on one line into the mind good.

I started turning out baked treats as soon as I was allowed in the kitchen so my dad thought I was going to be a baker but I qualified to enter uni where I majored in Accounting. Quit at fifty when I was financial controller of a glass company to open a pastry shop. At 70, still can’t say which occupation made me happier but both financed my extended travels to Brazil, Taiwan and Japan which made me happiest.

Wow Trencherman - your jobs have fulfilled your dreams. I hope so much that sometimes in the near or far future we can say the same from our jobs.

In a special way you must be a very happy man. Congrats for such a life! :big hug:

I recently got promoted to a high level position as a HR Business Partner for a huge globally known Real Estate Financial Estate Planning Corporation. My position consists of being a liaison and advisor to the organizations leadership. I also facilitate organizational effectiveness initiatives across the organization. Also with my position, I travel and I am in partnership with the global and international HR team where I administers HR business solutions in areas including, but not limited to, performance management, career planning, development & coaching, workforce planning, policy interpretation, process improvement, and change implementation. However, my personal goal is that since I've obtained my Masters' Degree not too long ago...I would like to start my own business...but that's a future goal of mine.

Dear friend CACC - please note: everyone who is honestly working for his/her life has a REAL job!!!
And if you don't like your job - try to learn more (if you aren't too old!). Try with all of your hearts fibers to climb up the ladder! Surely - that is not the easy way - it is the stony one - but one day you will look back and smile : you have got it!

I've learned in a big office and I've hated it to be there the number XYZ. So all I wanted was to learn all I could to reach my goal: to be my own boss. In the age of 25 I crossed the line and now I have what I've wanted for me. I'm no more number XYZ but number A.

I've had a few interesting jobs...

Scout-sniper U.S.M.C.
I guess this is self explanatory...

Ambulance/wheelchair van driver and dispatcher
I mostly drove mentally and physically disabled people to and from doctors offices, work, etc. I also drove ambulances on long distance transfers and made "body runs" to the morgue...

Baker (doughnuts)
Everything I owned reeked of doughnuts. A great conversation starter though. Guys were always commenting on how delicious I smelled...

Currently I do maintenance at a supermarket...

Brmstn69 - I'll promise from deep of the bottom of my heart that never ever I will say a bad word about you and if I've done it in the past - please forgive.

I've seen "American Sniper" and I hope so much you will not sit one day on top of the roof of the vis-à-vis house! Just kidding p:p
Nonetheless I'm admiring you and that honestly! p:p
