Of course we are - I rarely think of me, maybe that's my problem. Don't give a damn about me!

I'd say a little self-interest is conducive to doing well by others. It's hard to mount a good defense on a different front when your homefront is shoddily maintained, after all. Or... some analogy that works, I don't know.

Mainly I find myself thinking about:
what I find pleasurable (50% of the time);
what I find unpleasant (25% of the time);
planning how I can more of the first & less of the second (25% of the time).

Interesting percentages, Mamah :)

hmm interesting question, but I'm not sure I can give a concrete answer. I think about many things depending of many things... :thinking:

Well, it was only an approximation. Like most people I spend a lot of time thinking about neutral things also. It's possible to do a sort of survey of yourself when you're at home with nothing much else to do for an hour.
Get a large sheet of paper and write some headings across the top with topics you think you think about, leaving some space for extra headings. Then just allow yourself to feel at ease and put a mark under each heading every time your mind goes to a new topic.
You can get more insight about yourself if you also put a plus/minus/zero next to each mark depending whether the thought was pleasant/unpleasant/neutral. When I first did it I was very surprised at the result: a lot of my time I had angry thoughts about other people. Not so much these days though, I'm glad to say (hey, a happy thought!).

I think most of my baby sister whom is dying of bone cancer. She is so much more brave, strong, and positive than I. I pale in comparision. What a dude I am...

That is so horrible. I hope the best for your sister and you!
It's just not fair.
The strength will come to you in time, when it's truly needed.
We learn so much from the strength of others in such tragic situation.
