So what do you all think is the better choice..

Cable
dish
or
directv

I for one have directv and really like it I get some networks that i just could not get on my local cable like mlbtv, nbatv and theres many more..

now few of my friends have dish and they like it its ok

my mother liked it more when she had cable but directv is cheaper so she likes that ..

but when it rain it goes out for just a few, maybe a min at the most ...and on really sunny days it will go out for a min (directv i`m talking about)

what you guys like I think if it was not for sports i would not have any cable what so ever...

I had cable until about 6 years ago, and I was having a lot of trouble with it; I couldn't get some channels clearly. They came to the house at least 6 times and never figured it out and also never did anything else about it until I called the next time. This was a MAJOR supplier with an instantly recognizable name. Then they changed the channel lineup without notice. 2 weeks later they changed the lineup again and took SyFy out of the basic package.

So I called DirecTV & got their service, & I've had it ever since. I had one major issue with them in these years; it did not involve service, it was about billing, and it was resolved to my satisfaction.

I have never had a service interruption on a clear day; I have had it go out during severe rain & snow storms when the clouds get extremely thick, and once snow piled up on the antenna and I had to climb on the roof to clear it by hand. Also, last year for 2-3 weeks it flickered off & on at times; I called & they said it was some solar activity (solar flares or something) and took $5 off my bill for the next 6 months. The solar flares were mildly disruptive; a couple of lines would be dropped from a program now & then. It's the only time in 6 years that this happened; during the last solar activity, a month or so ago, we had no problems at all.

All in all we've been very satisfied with DirecTV, despite the occasional weather interruptions. When you talk to a rep on the phone, they seem like they actually want to help.

I should also add that, if the storm is severe enough and lasts a long time, service can go out for an hour or more, but that's an exception. It's maybe happened 3 or 4 times total.

thanks urban yeah i also had a billing issue and I really got a guy that took care of that I called when right at 9am when the open so maybe he was still alseep but he didn`t fight with me one bit.. and every time i have called a few question and i had to change my phone number and I got notting but nice people and they really did seem to care what i had to say and did what they could to work things out ..I like amost always watch stuff off of the dvr so when its storms i just do that it only have gone out for a few mins at the most so far for me ....I really like the directv and so does my roommate. so far so good , I hope for years 2 come....I would love to be able 2 updated to there new dvr where to can rec up to 5 shows at once and theres more room on there as well....

cable company wont run or install service to my house unless i am willing to pay for the install of a pole halfway between the box nearest my house and to my house--and pay for the line as well --they figured it would cost 3000 to 5000 dollars--i thought what the fuck--and got into an arguement and debate about it was their job to install it and so on--that in order to make money that they needed to spend money---plus if they got service to my house then there is like 4 other houses around that would love to have cable but they insist i pay for the install so i told them that they were fucking stupid and hung up--

but i was a dish network customers for 5 yrs then they moved channels over several satellites to where i wouldnt get several channels including local channels--so i canned them got direct tv had them for 7 yrs but their customer service was ok--they would help out on certain things butthen few months ago the dvr started screwing up i called them they follow their "procedures" and it worked for like and hour so here i go again call them again and same shit put up with it for a couple weeks then i showed my ass and they sent a replacement receiver --

few months later my second dvr did same thing and so far they wont send me another one--soooooo----check mail one day in the mailbox was envelope from dish network come back to us we guarantee all channels will work or they will pay my provider i have now bill for 6 months--hmmmm.. i called two days later it was installed--got the hopper setup which is sweet-- and love it so far and i am happy i am back with dish network

dish network is the best by far i think unles you have cable in your area with cable modem internet with super duper fast service-- then go with them but i love dish network

I prefer cable as well, however if you are a big sports nut (NFL Sunday Ticket), or if you like overseas programming, satellite has better service in that department. Cable may be more expensive but I could care less, it has the channels I want.

I live too far away from civilization, so no cable connection. First I had satellite TV. Now I have digitenne (digital TV, you need only a very small antenna, about the size of a cigar box). Satellite offered hundreds of channels, nearly all rubbish. Now I have about twenty channels, also all rubbish. You can say that I have less rubbish now, so things improved.

Well I think with dish you have nearly the best choice because you get the direct signal from the satelite and with cable it is compressed a lot before you get the final picture.

But I mostly listen to music or watch DVD/Blu Ray, therefore my cable TV is enough for me :)
