O.k., I just found a video that was 2.6 gigs and 20 minutes long. Somebody has to put an end to this. By the way, this is sarcasm. I know these things are beyond our control, but for goodness sake, how big are these files going to get?

This is becoming a problem. It's hard for me to find full movies that can actualy be downloaded successfuly. The fileshareing sites give free users, like me, the slowest of download speeds. With a massive file that might mean a fifteen hour download time. In practice the download will timeout long before it's complete, then all that's left is a part RAR which is no use as it will not unrar. There are some posters who do convert their files. A 4G7 movie will compress down to 700M (which will download easily) in h264 with little loss of quality but it takes a long time with a fast computer and all day on a slow one, so it's understandable that posters would rather not have to do that.
The other side of the coin is that the streaming sites are raising their picture quality on new uploads. Downloading from a streaming site is very quick, ten minutes for a two hour movie, so it looks like the future is going to mean more trade for Xvideos and less for filehosting sites.

I can only agree - it's getting ridiculous, a 20 minutes long video clip 2.6 GB. Just ridiculous :angry:
If the time it takes to download a file and disconnects are the issue then it's a matter of download speed, not one of file size. Let's be realistic, in films it's a difference of a couple hundred MB, maybe 1GB between really small 480 and standard HD 1080. It comes down to your local cables, your internet prodiver and the file host.
Generally filesharers tend to share files but far fewer rip and convert files themselves. Chances are you won't be reaching many here.
It's also important to note that filesharers provide files because they want to share it. They don't get anything for it other than gratitude and the risk of being legally prosecuted or sued. You don't pay them. They do not rely on you. You have no leverage over them. The least you could have done was to ask nicely instead of making demands at people who provide content for this forum.
If you think it's such a problem then why don't you start sharing small files yourself instead of demanding other people do so because you prefer it.

My opinions counts for little, it's the Gay Heaven rules that are more important;
2.3. All filehosts for downloading of videos must also provide an option for the user to download it freely (i.e., not requiring a membership in order to download). Also, no external software must have to be utilized to download.
If a file is so large that it not practical to download it as a free user, then I suggest that it is breaking this site rule. This is situation has crept up on us like the frog in the pan of hot water. The file hosts are the ones who throttle download speeds, they are private businesses so they have every right to do this, the idea is to pressurise free users into becoming paid users. I do not believe that any posters have broken rule 2.3 knowingly, it has just happened that as file sizes get bigger without a matching increase in speed, the 'free' option becomes an 'only if you are lucky' option.
Other, less salubrious, porn sites don't have this rule, This site is better than all those others. Long may it remain so.

well places such as Rapidgator allow free user up to 2 gigs if the uploader chooses this option, and there are free file splitters you can use to use, or you can use winRAR to make split files, so you can upload links so free users can download them...If anyone has difficulties splitting files they can ask some of the SVIP or staff to help, since both are here to help other members...

In theory a free user can download 2G from RG. In theory yes but in practice that will take such a long time that an error at some point is almost inevitable. As a free user you cannot resume a stalled download, you must do nothing until a waiting period has expired then start all over again from the begining. I am pleased to agree with DBOL777 that file splitting is a good solution to this problem. The same file split into 400M chunks has a much greater chance of a successful download.
