I hate to bring out the nerdiness in me, but here goes: there ARE major differences between estrogen and testosterone minds. That said, it is important to note that this doesn't translate perfectly into female versus male minds...BECAUSE some men have brains that are more dominated by estrogen and some women have brains that are more dominated by testosterone. This all depends on the types of hormones that the pregnant mother sends to her fetus during pregnancy. So, while the mother's body doesn't determine the sex of the fetus, her body does determine whether that child will have an estrogen or testosterone mind, and gendered imbalances are possible!
Most males have testosterone-dominated minds and most females have estrogen-dominated minds, but there are possibilities for imbalances. When I had to teach this to school district parents, many of them had the impression that these imbalances cause their kids to be gay. However, this has absolutely nothing to do with sexual orientation, according to the research.
On average, there are main differences between these types of minds/brains.
1. Testosterone minds have a much greater susceptibility towards violence than estrogen minds.
2. Testosterone minds are really all about actually/physically doing something instead of just thinking it through (estrogen).
3. Testosterone minds have frequent and periodic lapses of time where they just STOP thinking whereas estrogen minds are constantly thinking all the time with virtually no pauses (so, yeah, women tend to think things through a bit better, but this DOES leave them more susceptible to mental illnesses like stress, anxiety, or depression)
4. Testosterone minds have a much greater sexual libido than estrogen minds.
5. Estrogen minds develop and mature faster than testosterone minds in terms of basic skills, particularly language and communication skills.
There are some other differences that I can't remember right now.
