I live a slow life in a rural area, and patience is a definite asset here. Things just don't happen right away; we can't even get groceries or gas without a 10-mile drive, so it becomes necessary to just wait.
But when I go into the city, everything's different; that's partly why I live where I live. I agree with bigsal, it's modern society & technology, but I think an underlying factor is overpopulation, which makes rushing to get to the front a necessity in some ways.
One thing I will readily admit to, I hate having to wait in line for anything. I would never wait more than 5 minutes in a restaurant line, no matter how much I wanted to eat there. Ditto a new product, tickets to any event, or any kind of food stand; there's just nothing I want that bad. I always get the first appointment of the day for a doctor, unless I know he's one of the few who leaves enough time between appts. It's a quirk, it's definitely a manifestation of impatience, but it's just who I am.
