Not only the OS's, but some new versions of some softwares are trash too.
Yesterday I had to update my Windows Live Messenger to be able to log in. The newest WLM 2009 according to me is a real trash. It's messed up and full of visual effects that slow down the work of my computer.

Even tho the newest version was released few weeks (maybe a month or more?) ago I didn't update it and it didn't force me to update until yesterday. Yesterday I had to update it if I liked to continue to log in.

Maybe I'm lucky, but nothing seems to slow my PC down , even Messenger! Best PC I've had, probably because it's got a huge memory - and it's Vista!

Well of course not, nothing is perfect. But of the two most prominent and frequently used computer manufacturers, Apple definitely takes the cake. Unless you're Xman, who got lucky, LOL.
That probably is the bulk of Microsoft's problems though -- folks won't buy the products with more memory because they're more expensive, but a little more memory will take you a long way.
