yes to both questions. my father's name is so common that there would be no mental association (unless i called my date dad, and that's not going to happen )

my own name is not so common, but i have a friend who has the same, and we both find it really cool. it sounds strange, but it has bought us closer than we may have been otherwise, and we play around with it whenever someone addresses either of us.

My mother lived with a gay couple that were both named Tony. Actually, one was named Mac, but he didn't like it because it was his fathers name, so he used his middle name "Tony". We just called them Tony I and Tony II...

Wow! I'm surprised at the replies lol... Maybe it's just me, but I cannot see myself screaming out my name during sex (and yes I said sex, cuz that's compulsory in all my dates, judge away lol). It'll be too weird. I'd rather change my name than do it, no matter how remarkably, tremendously, stupendously hot the other person may be... and my name is common, to an extent. lol

The reason I asked the question was owning to the fact I'm practically into a lot of things sexually with very slim boundaries, and although names are minor for many people it's high up there in my list of things that is a deciding factor to dating or sex.

My best friend said she would have a problem dating a guy who shares her father's name or the name of an ex. I'd almost agree with her about the ex part as I see her point, but my exbfs had common names, George being one of them lol, it would probably be too tough for me.

Man, you guys are youngsters on this forum! There was a singing couple in the 50's or early 60's named Paul & Paula, and their big hit was called "Hey Paula", although a lot of people think it was "Hey Paul".

Personally, until you asked that question, it never even occurred to me that this might be a problem for anyone. When I meet someone with my first name, I light up like a Christmas tree & it's usually the first thing I want to talk about; so no, no problem there at all.

Most important is to have fun with each other and like already said by some others, a name is only a name, it is the guy who is important and if I find a guy who is named Ben or Benjamin then it would be funny at all and maybe it happens in the future

It wouldn't be my first choice to be honest, I do think it would feel kinda weird ... but maybe after getting to know him more I could get past that, it would also help if he has a 2nd name so I can play with that haha.
I liked this guy who's 2nd name is my father's but I don't use that one of course... however I do see where u're going, my brain would find it awkward in each way at least at first.

I'd find it very hard to date someone with the same name as myself, my Dad, or my borthers.

Mind you, being an ex-pat, all my family have odd names, so it's not something that's ever come up!
