If anybody is wondering the cars are the only two 1936 Duesenberg SSJ's ever made. One was made for Clark Gable, the other for Gary Cooper. The standard Duesenberg SJ was the Bugatti Veyron of it's day, it had 320hp, did 0-60 in 8 sec. and topped out at over 130mph. These two cars were smaller, lighter, and made 400 hp...

But to put it in perspective, another, slightly more common (there were four made, lol) Dusenberg model JN roadster, with the 265hp. non-super-charged engine previously owned by Clark Gabel sold Aug.19 at auction for $10.35 million...


Duesenbergs were engineering marvels that used technology 50 years ahead of it's time...

Dual over-head camshafts, four valves per cylinder, tuned intake manifolds. Things that are commonplace now, but even as recently as the early 90's were considered advanced for automotive use...

P.S. A Duesenberg model SJ will be staring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in the upcoming "The Great Gatsby"...
