I found gayauthors.org a little odd for my taste. Also, if you publish anything on a site like that (or this one) you lose your "first publishing rights". All that means is if you republish you have to do it as a second edition. Some sites state that they own everything that's posted. Which means that if they have an editor who feels that say, 4 novels and 5 short stories, are good enough to go mainstream, they could bundle an anthology an sell it. Does this happen a lot? Don't know. Do authors get a cut? Again, I don't know, but my gut says no. There may be exceptions, however.
If you feel you'll never want to publish your work in the mainstream then I suppose nifty is a good site.
