There are a lot of annoying things associated with most DL sites. Things like popups, more popups, etc. And that is not unreasonable. But now there are some image sites being used here that require a change to your browser setup to see the stored image. The ones I have seen are always used for viewing screen caps.

The change required is that you must disable ad blocking SW on your browser. Most sites employ readily available methods to get their ads up without changing your browser.

The question is: should these 'new' sites be on the banned list?

Ad-blocking software literally deprives them of their only income stream - free websites are a straight-up trade, you look at ads, they give you something for nothing. If you block the ads, you are depriving the sites of their income stream. They are not charities!

So - really, is it not expecting something for nothing that's a step too far?

Not in the least. As I said in the original post,
Most sites employ readily available methods to get their ads up without changing your browser.
It isn't a matter of depriving them of the income, it is a matter of them using a less intrusive method like almost everyone else does.

Is it or is it not ad-blocking software that is causing this problem? If you use a default browser does it work? (it does for me)

Hence, it is your attempt to deprive them on their income that is the root of your problems - stop depriving them of income, and all will be well!

You obviously don't understand, and that's OK. I will simply continue not DLing from anyone who uses these particular sites for image storage.
