Screen caps for slide shows.
Occasionally I make slide shows. Sometimes, as a combination of pictures and “moving pictures”, but mostly just photos combined with music. For me it is a challenge (and a kind of art) to achieve a combination that is able to arouse large emotion.
A while ago I posted a slide show. The thread was removed because it had only one photo as screen cap (it did not have my attention because I was extremely busy last month, so no time left for Gay Heaven). Putin was so friendly to replace it with appropriate screen caps. I am grateful for his efforts. But I want to make a little remark. The strength of a slide show is in a way the surprise (it is rather difficult to choose the right combination of photos in relation to the music). That disappears partly when you know which photos will appear. So I want to propose that for a slide show one photo is sufficient as screen cap, under the condition that you indicate that it is a slide show. The files are very small, so easy to download and not a big deal when you are disappointed (the wasted efforts by throwing the file in the trash are nearly negligible).
There is also a mathematical support for this proposal:
A video clip has normally about 25 frames per second. That means 25 different pictures per second. So one minute of video shows 1500 pictures. A clip of ten minutes consists of 15000 pictures. When I make screen caps, let us say 15 different shots, I cover 1/1000 part of all available pictures.
When I make a slide show consisting 100 photos (length about the same time, 10 min.) and I show one photo as screen cap, I cover 1/100 part of all photos. That is ten times more than the screen caps above.
(This is also the reason that the file of a slide show is so small (the music is a major part)).
