Hello,
My SD card is most likely infected by some virus. In one folder there are several other folders in it with unreadable code as the folder name. I tried to scan it with avira and some local virus scanner but they just dont recognized it and the report said that it was 100% okay. I tried to delete it but there's a notification that the computer cant recognized the file either. Cant quarantine it either. What should I do? I dont want to toss my card.
P.S: the antivirus I use are mostly free although you can update it freely. And I dont have internet conection in my home.
Thanks

Look for a software called autorun killer... your card has an autorun script and that's why you can't do much... with that free software you install it and scan your sd card and it will remove the autorun file that is quite often an hidden file. Good luck!

Are you sure you have a virus and not simply a corrupted file system?

If there is no data you need on the card, reformat it and see if that fixes it.

^I think its a virus. Can corrupted data system multiple folders in a folder, which originally there is no any folder inside the original folder...now thats kinda confusing language issue lol
Well, I had reformat it. Without making a backup files since I'm afraid that the virus might infecting my laptop also....soo all those porn files are gone for good now.
I'll download that antivirus Jake's told about for preventing this nuisance thing happen again. Thanks people! Case close!

Yes.

Once the file system on a storage device gets corrupted you will get lots of funny stuff on that file system. If all the funniness is confined to a single storage device it is almost certainly not a virus. As a generael rule, viruses don't infect single file systems, they infect computers. If the funniness was not happening on all your file systems then it was almost certainly not a virus.

If formatting the drive fixed the problem, it was not a virus.

People are very quick to assume that every computer problem is a virus. This is not reasonable, computers can break in lots and lots of ways, viruses are just one of many. It would be like assuming that every car problem was caused by someone trying to steal your car.

Oh I didnt know about that. Mmm....the funny things you mentioned about was on my 4 porn set, 2 was video set contain 8 video files. The picture set files was multiplying from 86 to 172 files which each become a unreadable files. Same thing with the video. Back ago I had this one USB and it got a virus in there which makes me cannot open anything in that USB. The virus scanner told that it was some kind of Trojan or Worm. So what you said by there is no possibilities that a single drive could be infected by virus is not convicted. Or maybe I just get your opinion wrong.

It's very hard to diagnose a problem perfectly from a hundreds of miles away with just small pieces of information, so I could of course be wrong, but, I really think that from your description, and from the fact that a format fixed it, it was a file system problem not a virus problem.

As for that message from your AV - that did not mean your drive was infected with a trojan, it means there was a file on that drive that, if you were to run it, would infect your computer. A trojan is like a virus, but it does not spread automatically. Trojans rely on tricking you into installing them. They are called after the wooden horse of Troy from Greek mythology.

It's hard to explain the subtleties of viruses and other malware even when there is no language barrier, so we're definitely in a difficult conversation here :)

The simplest way I can put it is that a virus lives in a running operating system, not in a disk. All disks of any sort that get read by the infected computer can be interferred with by the virus, and formatting any disk other than the one with the OS on it will not remove a virus. what can be on other disks are "Virus eggs". Many viruses put their digital eggs onto every hard drive they can find so that if you go visit someone and bring a drive with you you have the eggs with you. Formatting that drive would not fix your computer, but it would kill the eggs. Those eggs are harmless though unless someone "hatches" them by running them in some way. I hope that analogy makes sense!

Virus from SD Card always infects main PC as well. You can use anti virus, but some virus are smart, they can block your anti virus. If you want to be truly safe, just "nuke" your SD card with reformat and reinstall your Windows on PC. Yes, it's extreme but it's much safer!

Could you do a screen shot of what you are trying to tell us, as might help us "techies" figure out what the issue is :)

Eventually, the cause of this 'virus' symptoms that I had... was not virus at all. Its more than a system crash, the files contain a data that only readable in Mac system, not Windows. Thats why my Windows system cant read it. But I might be wrong either. Doesn't had a chance to make a screen shot. There is no problem like this again since the file is now making in Windows system. Sorry I cant described it better due to my English and capability of IT. But thanks for your considerations.
