Anti Virus Help

My Norton Anti Virus Protection expires tomorrow. You techno savy guys have posted antivirus solutioins (freeware) and I need your help! I don't want to pay for services that in the end are out for the buck, and will actualy screw up your PC just for the money!

Tell me what I need to do to protect my laptop!

If you have a legal version of Windows you can now get a complete free security package from Microsoft that will update regularly. Just type Windows Security Essentials into your search engine & you'll find it. It's been highly praised.

I would recommend two very good free programs.
AVG
Avast
Both are free for home use.
Both are rated very highly.
These are strictly virus software though.
If your Norton was full internet security you should also have a firewall
and spybot search and destroy for malware.
I won't use Norton because it is such a resource hog.

Hey Tom! Hope you are well! If I install Windows Security Essential do I still need spybot and search and destroy?

I use avg and i like it very much

I recommend Avast.. a free Anti-virus, and either Spyware Terminator, or Ad-Aware to get rid of the spyware/malware, they are both free too.
