It's an interesting question! If a straight guy looks in the mirror at himself after shaving he might say "lookin' good!" I would describe this as 'normal', just a little vanity. But, if a gay guy looks in the mirror... well is there a difference? Is he more likely to say... "Wow hot ass!"

Why do I feel guilty for even asking? :blushing:

Perhaps some of you guys will be able to answer the question... if you dare! Do you feel attracted in any way to yourself, and if so, do you feel this is just because you're gay?

Of course there's a difference between how straight and gay men view themselves. Straight men are not attracted to their own sex, remember? So of course they would not find themselves sexually interesting. They might attempt an objective assessment of whether they THINK they would look sexually attractive to a female, but that's a different thing. It's like the difference between someone looking at a painting and saying "That's beautiful" and someone else looking at it and thinking "Yes, that'll sell."

We gay men have an advantage. It's possible to look in the mirror, forget for the moment that it's you and pretend it's another man, and react accordingly. That comes in useful if you are trying to impress the lads, because chances are that if you like what you see, then at least some of them will be impressed by it too.

And yes I'll confess, I have looked at myself and cracked a hardon. I'd have sex with myself, definitely. But of course if I was looking for a partner I wouldn't want someone exactly the same as myself, there would have to be a few differences and the occasional surprise to make life interesting.

This is an interesting question - and I've been thinking about it for a few days before chiming in with my 2c.

On the whole I think gay people are the same as straight people in this regard. I can appreciate the fact that I have a nice cock (at least I think I do), and I don't think that appreciation is any different to a straight bloke who thinks he has good abs, or good pecks, or indeed, a good pecker.

I hesitated to reply for a bit because I do find it hot to watch videos of myself and my partner making love. Is that because I find myself hot? I don't think so, I think it's because it reminds me of the sex, and I re-live it in my mind.

I can honestly say that in terms of gay and straight guys that gay guys are more conscientious about their appearance as opposed to some straight men. However, what I came upon last year was a guy that I met at a gay picnic and although he was cute, as the conversation went on, I soon discovered that this guy felt that he was God's gift to MEN and went so far as to tell me that even though he considered me to be handsome, he also felt that I should really thank my lucky stars that he found my appearance sufficient enough for him to approach me. I mean, this guy was so cocky and conceited that I quickly got turned off by him. Also, while being employed as a bartender years ago, I have came across several gay men who were so into themselves that they felt as if it was a priviledge to obtain any attention from them. But on the other hand, I have met some straight guys who had revealed to me that if they could fuck themselves, they would..with that being said, I don't believe its so much a gay-straight thing, I think its all upon that certain type of individual that are happens to be within both sexual orientations. Just my perspective of this topic.

I'm not attracted to my type. I'm sort of a 'wolf'. Not a bear not a cub nor an otter. The only time I thought I was good looking was in my 'east village clone' phase. At the time, short beard, military clothes, boots, vests without a shirt. I grew out of that phase but I looked good in the mirror.

I wouldn't say that I'm attracted to "myself", but I am attracted to the sort of boy that I am. That would be young, clean cut, good shape, smooth body. I never found myself particularly attractive when I was younger, was sometimes puzzled when someone came on to me. But I've come across photos that have given me second thought.
