Are you a head, heart or gut person?

How do you make decisions? Based on reasoning, intellect and logic? On emotions? Or on instinct and intuition?
Head, heart or gut?

Would you say you tend to by more one type than the other? Or does it depend on the situation?

It does depend on the situation but I've found that I can be quite wrong if I ignore my gut instinct.

I can be quite blunt at times about things , and my intuition usually works , not always , so always happy to be challenged, but generally , as long as all the facts are known, I can make an instant decision.

It really depends on how fast you are at taking in available information, some "gut reactions" can be based on prejudice or pre-conceived ideas.

As for "heart", no, that gets you into trouble ;)

Well to be honest I was always a realistic person and will ever be because my life has shown me already many different ways and I found out that a realistic point of view is a good way to survive.

And as XMan101 said already so true, decisions made by heart are definitely supposed to finish in trouble although I think a good dose of heart should be included in every decision :)

Realistic people are often seen as persons who think negative but that is definitely NOT true!

I usually go with the heart, what will make me feel good about myself afterwards. I guess I'm driven by fear of guilt.

I usually am a head person.

But I think it largely depends on what decision I'm about to make, how far it's expected consequences go, and how much information is available. I trust my gut whenever little information is known.

The hardest part was to learn to trust my heart. For a long time, I've been listening to my head instead of my heart and made some pretty stupid choices. Now that I've learned to listen to my heart a little bit more, I wouldn't say my choices are smart, but they've become less stupid :p

Haha, that's a good point, BigBenni. Did you know that (moderately) depressed people actually have a more realistic/accurate view of themselves and their environment than non-depressed individuals? They're less prone to self-serving biases that lead to overestimation in non-depressed people.

tarzan2009a, I'm not exactly sure what you mean by saying you're driven by fear of guilt when making heart decisions. How are these things related?

Mostly i'm a head person...but i don't like staying in my head too long or i become restless. I'd say on important issues for me its balanced between head and heart, which sometime can be tough to make head agree with heart or vice-versa. I've even been called carefree because of my laid-back attitude, but most people don't know whats going on inside.
when situation needs spontaneity, its gut coupled with head. So for me i can say one backed by another works :)

"Are you a head, heart or gut person?"

It really depends on the facts, the situation, the theme and how quick you have to decide something and how great the pressure is to decide quickly....
so in my opinion there is no general answer.......

In the past, I made some quick decisions based on emotion. I often regretted them. What I do now is take some time. Sometimes I just don't decide. Letting things play out often works better.
