I am not "horrified" by removing a bit of skin from a boy's penis. Without medical need, certainly, in many cases (though it's interesting to note that many medical researchers in Australia and elsewhere are suggesting that circision should be made routine again, for various reasons to do with promoting better health, nothing to do with social customs or religion). Medical need or not, there is plenty of evidence before you, including from many people on this forum, that a circised penis functions perfectly well. Some prefer to be cut or for their partners to be cut, some don't, but it really is not that big a deal.

I've seen this debate many times over the years in various places. It always provides very strong views, you get a few who don't bother either way but the more vociferous amongst us really sit firmly one side or another.

I've had conversations on & off line about it and I suppose it does depend on your background to some extent. I've known someone who had it done as a baby and (although didn't hate his parents for it) was extremely upset in later life for what was done before he had the choice to make the decision It certainly wasn't something he was happy about.

On another occasion the person had it done as an adult for health reasons but although wasn't over upset about it did admit it felt better beforehand.

Personally I agree about the rights issue and have always been totally opposed to doing anything to any child that is irreversible before they are able to decide for themselves.

Whether a guy wants to be , or has to be, cut is not relevent to me, it's his choice or necessity perhaps, neither is a turn off sexually speaking, but it's the routine taking away of choice that disturbs me .

I agree that males circ is not quite the same as removing the clit, although the 4skin is not just a flap of useless skin but one that contains a rich cluster of nerves.

Basically, an female equivalent is removing the clitorial hood; maybe docs should do that regulary, equality and all of that!
