Has anybody else thought most of thier products were the sexiest on the market?
Im about to buy a top-of-the-line setup from a friend, even though its dated, and not too powerful, zomg!! If I could have sex with a sound system, I would never leave the house.

So, your opinions?

They are definitely like pieces of modern art and of very high quality, but I don't think they sound any better than Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon, or Bose, or even Sony for that matter. I can't see spending that kind of money just for the looks, when I can get something that's just as good or better for 1/10th the price...

It is hard to top B&O and certainly worthy of having a sexual experience with and if I had the opportunity to get a used set-up for a reasonable price from someone I'd jump on it, so to speak......but brmstn69 is definitely correct...the other systems are pretty dam close, at least in quality. I have bose and don't think I'd need any more than that...I love it, I definitely think its sexy but haven't had sex with it yet though...

I have to agree .. B & O are very stylish pieces of kit and look great but at the end of the day it's the sound, not the looks that matter to me..and other less expensive brands will sound as good.

Having said that...you are buying from a friend ...and depending on the condition and the price you are paying you may well be getting a great bargain .. so go for it..indulge yourself.

After all it means you will be at home more...so you can log onto GH more too!!...so it's win win win.

Before anyone asks, they stopped making them before I was born, but I do have quite a few in my collection

Well this set I am buying is a Beosystem 5000..........from 1986......
price=$2200 then. paying $100 now. Lol.
I do think some of thier newer things are crazy expensive, but when you really look at some of the tech they have, you appreciate the cost. My current setup is Sony, and I love it, sounds amazing, but.........looks like crap.
And what is a 78rpm?

You may well have a bargain there...a 78rpm is the fore-runner of vinyl Lps and Single records. Whereas these played at 33.33 and 45 Revolutions Per Minute these played on a turntable running at 78 rpm...they were also made of shellac, a rather brittle compound, rather than vinyl.

The later ones were actually vinyl and records were released in both 45rpm & 78rpm formats.

Basically they were the early form of a single. There are new record decks out now that have brought the speed back because there are so many in people's collections. You need a stonger needle to play them than for an LP or 45.

Before these there was the cylinder.......but that's enough history for today lol

I went around my wife's ex bosses house...house house etc.. she had a B andO TV and speakers in her kitchen .. DVD player in the top .. follwed you to get the bets picture and the speakers etc.. sex on ... legs...sha also had a B&O cordless phone in her kitchen..mmmmmm
