Beauty queen stripped of title for being 'not transgender enough'

Miss Transgender UK has been stripped of her title because she is ‘not transgender enough.’

Jai Dara Latto, 22, was crowned at a glittering ceremony in London in September.

But the event’s organizer, Rachael Bailey, branded her a ‘drag queen’ after seeing video footage that she said proved Latto does not live as a woman full-time.

‘When Jai entered the competition, she said she was full time and she is not – she is a drag queen,’ Bailey told The Scotsman newspaper.

The video, which was taken as part of a BBC Three doentary about the pageant, reportedly shows Latto relaxing at home in boxer shorts.

‘The doentary showed her living as a gay male in her boxer shorts. Underwear is very important to transgender females – one of the first thing people do is change their underwear as it makes us feel like we are finally a woman,’ Bailey said.

She added: ‘When I confronted her, she just said that I didn’t have a leg to stand on and it is difficult.

‘It is basically one transgender person saying to another “You’re not transgender enough to be in our competition.” It sounds daft when you put it like that.’

Latto insisted she is transgender and said she had already begun hormone treatment.
