Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is apparently about to resign.
In spite of the not-exactly-bright future we all expect of the post-Berlusconian era, please allow me to rejoyce as an Italian: we will no longer be represented in the world by such a disgraceful man. :)

He'll leave soon, the ddl should be voted upon this weekend if I'm not mistaken...
How a nation may be taken seriously when led by such a man is something I can't possibly understand....

The big question, however, is: What happens now that he's gone??

It's certainly good news that Berlusconi will be gone, but I hope Italians are prepared to fight against the undemocratic, depression-triggering austerity measures that the EU wants to impose upon them.

My question is: I know he owns the media and bribes people and so on but how come so many people voted for him? :?

That's one of nature's greatest mysteries. But I would say we (Italians) have a history in choosing bad politicians...

Anyway, maybe tomorrow will be B's last day....... After that, darkness.

How did he even get elected in the first place? Was he good at the beginning, was there some promise? The sight of him and Tony Blair was nauseating:eek:

It's official. He resigned. As crowds sang in the streets yesterday night: HALLELUJAH!!!

Hopefully it will become the historians' job to understand why he got voted in the first place - and not the journalists'. It would mean he's gone down in history...

Italy is in a bad place anyway. Financially and socially. I hope no fake saviors show up.

I'm not very fond of the guy that's going to replace Berlusconi, Mr. Mario Monti.
But hopefully his team will not be as shameful as Berlusconi's O_O

I'm not that convinced either, but going to the elections immediately would have been worse, and any other candidate would have probably split the politicians even more apart, at least this guy has been accepted by all parties except one...

And after a dentist, a girl that worked on TV with Davide Mengacci, the minister of Education with her faults, and all the others, to be more shameful is something I can't even imagine...X_X

When Italy had Julio Andreotti as prime minister for the n-th time, everybody wondered "Could it ever be worse?" And MIRACOLO, MIRACOLO! There came Berlusconi
