best free program(s) to edit/copy scenes from full movies?

Hey guys-

Could anyone recommend any free programs to copy or edit out select scenes from full-length film files? It's great to be able to get full movies, but hard drives fill up fast, and when you only like one scene from a 90 min file it's pointless to have the rest taking up space. Thanks!

There is a good free and fast AVI splitter called SolveigMM AVI Trimmer. Try it

I use other programs too. They're not free ... but... there is a way to make them fully functional
From non-free software I use Boilsoft Video Joiner and Boilsoft Video Splitter, and also Ultra Video Joiner and Ultra Video Splitter.

I use Boilsoft Video Splitter for that. However, there's also X Video Converter that you can use to not only convert to another format, but you can also cut out scenes. It's available here.

Thanks for the X Video link, but on my computer it was on track to take hours for some reason, just for a 30 min scene

SolveigMM AVI Trimmer is quick and great, but the trial version only allows 10 min chunks - is there a free version of this anywhere around? Thanks again...

Sorry but i'm a little confused ... you say ((( downloading some material to this site ))) do you mean you want help with downloading videos from the forum to your computer ... or do you want to know how to upload and post videos to the forum ... if it is the latter look in the help tutorial link on the main page

I've just downloaded the zip file, and scanned with Nortons. "No viruses, spyware etc....found", says Norton.

Now that leaves me in a quandary! I'll probably unzip and install on an old PC to see what it looks like undressed.
