We all like porn here, right? :p Well has anyone else got the dreaded

SEGPAYEU.COM GIBRALTER GI charge for $10-$15?

I was at segpay.com and they said all my subscriptions were done a few years ago and they haven't charged me.

I don't want to raise a huge ruckus (like canceling the card outright) cause this is a shared card and all my other "VICE" charges are long gone/non issue. I keep seeing complaints for this charge on the net but no real solutions.

I feel like I'm writing to an advice column.

Anyway, thanks for hearing me out! All the best.

If you have no luck with SEGPAYEU.com direct just go to your card supplier and say that charge is a THEFT. They will then have to investigate, and will credit back the amount to your card.

This is what I threatened one supplier once. I cant remember if it was SEGPAYEU.com, but as soon as I mentioned I would contact my credit card company claiming the charge was a theft THEY credited me back the amount.

I got the impression they dont like banks investigating them!

Good luck

Any card processor has employees who may be tempted to skim money, and despite the high levels of security, it CAN be done. As well, there are porn merchants out there who are outright thieves......either using your cc number long after they've delivered what you paid for and charging a bogus 'product' to your card, or just buying lists of skimmed numbers from people who get them from stores, bars, etc. It's rather easy to capture card numbers since illicit mag readers (magnetic stripe on card back has your data) can be purchased.

As noted elsewhere in this thread, just tell them you'll contact your card provider and file fraud charges. Believe me they do NOT want that harsh spotlight of attention focused on them. The biggest problem is guys using their cards and not wanting others to know what they've purchased........others like spouses, partners, and so on.

This was the thorn in my side right here. And I've been doing this for YEARS without a single problem or any thing brought to light

Customer service targeted the subscription to a strange, non-descript site: uploading.com. As in just plain file sharing, but I don't think I've ever used it here or anywhere. Things got canceled and taken care of but if anymore business happens like this I've have start with some lawyers and stuff.

I wrote this because Gibralter GI domain has been giving people problems.

I had something like that happen awhile ago. Like I would sign up for one thing then it would charge me for a two other things and in order to take care of it I had to call there service and my account was billed a similar address like the last post. However though after some hassle I was able to get rid of the charges but it required me to cancel my credit card unfortunately.

The quicker that everyone (regardless of what bogus site charge) speaks up and demands action, the sooner that these scam artists will go away. Crime of this type generally exists only because of the easy pickings. If a door is locked securely with a hard-to-pick lock (no such thing as totally unpickable), then a thief will go elsewhere to a door more easily opened.

Tell your bank it is a fraudulent charge, they legally have to refund you, and then it is up to them to chase after the fraudsters.

This is why you should always use a credit card on line, and NEVER a debit card. Fraudulent transactions on a credit card are the bank's problem, fraudulent transactions on a debit card are YOUR problem!

Debit vs credit can have different results in different countries. In Canada, they've had a debit card system backed by the major banks for over 25 years and just recently they've begun to allow some online processors to access that card (PayPal so I'm told is one of them). It withdraws immediately from either a chequing or savings account and if there is fraud or other monkey biz on the processor end of things, the banks must come good for replacing your funds. In the USA, there are debit cards that are backed by major credit card companies, and it's unclear who bears responsibility for correcting erroneous or fraudulent charges to that account.

Credit cards are backed in part by banks and in part by private corporations. Regulations on their liability to cover your financial ass may vary from country to country. In USA and Canada (the two countries I know most about), the card providers have a disputed charge procedure that typically seems to work well if one follows the steps as given via their online sites. Since credit card providers are very competitive and it's now extremely simple to move your payments and payees from one card to another in minutes, they usually deliver very good customer service when dealing with wrongful charges.

I recently dealt with Citibank in the States, completed a simple online form regarding a misrepresented product that was not delivered in the promised time or condition. I was emailed back in 48 hours to let me know what was being done, and in about 3 weeks I had a full refund (charges reversed on the card). The amount was under $100.00 and that seems to be a magic number for most CC.
