Buying Premium Downloads

Is it me or has anyone else noticed how certain filehosting sites become more popular then fade away.

Last year, Hotfile and Rapidshare were the most popular filehosts (so I brought premium for both of these) - although Hotfile from the UK can only really be used 1am - 1pm! Rapidshare became a little expensive with the introduction of RapidPros.
A few months ago, Fileserve and Filesonic were really popular (so I bought premium on both of these).
Now Oron seems to becoming a very popular choice (so I bought premium on this last week)

Am I doing the right thing?

I am in no way moaning as premium on all of these sites is a small price to pay compared with the old way of doing things when I paid a fortune for streaming content etc
Also, I know I'm Mr Impatient so I am paying for the privilege of immediate downloads.

If you want it and can afford it - then there is no problem. If you need to economize, pick two - whatever seems popular at the time. You can keep changing which two as often as you like.

This topic is of interest to me. Periodically when my list of downloads to download via the free/slow method grows too big, I invest into an account. I do this about twice a year, for which ever site has the most downloads that I want at the time.

Sites do come and go as the popular one. Not sure why that is. Possibly others come up with better referral credits.

My advice is just don't buy a premium for like one year, there are a lot of things that could happen... I mean look at Hotfile posts now... eventually the premium you buy may become useless in the future.

The most popular hosts right now are Filesonic/Fileserve.

Be careful in purchasing Oron prem - they only allow 15 GB downloads for 3 days even if you are a premium member.

I had Rapidshare for a few years, and then in late 09/early 10, I went with Hotfile. Just last month, I dropped hotfile as I knew it was only getting less useful, and went with Oron.

I know they've got the 15 gig/3 day stipulation, but my connection is only so-so, so I have no dangers of needing more.

While I agree that Fsonic and Fserve are more popular here, they tend to be offered in tandem with another service, so I can usually minimize my waiting to download a free file by alternating between the services. I also enjoy some str8/tranny/bi fetish stuff, which on certain sites tends to be almost always on Oron.

I guess the selfish thing to do when you get good service from a file hoster is to not tell anyone else about it. That's because then you will help make it more popular & the service will deteriorate!

Recently got Oron premium and got locked out the next day. Hey, I only grabbed a few pages of the hammervice megathread :rofl: Seriously, I don't have more than 8GB to watch but they say different.

And it doesn't reset completely after 3 days. Msg = "you can always buy another premium account and keep downloading" WOW how snotty :angry:

I'd definitely buy an Oron premium membership over any of the others. It's probably the only one I'd buy. I really, really, really (really), hate Oron -- it's the absolute worst sharing site for non-payers. While the other sites make you wait 45 minutes or less for another download, Oron consistently makes you wait for 2+ hours, which is ridiculous, especially if you're downloading something that was split into two parts. I wish people wouldn't use it at all, but whatever.

So bottom line, yeah -- you made a good choice.

i have megaupload because they give me the best speed and aren't too expensive. filesonic gives me pathetic speeds, oron and sendspace are jokes. fileserve has pretty good free service.

pick whichever you are comfortable with i guess because honestly the best 3 free places seem to be mediafire megaupload and fileserve, but no one uses the first two :/.

I don't know. A couple of the forums I frequent the most are strictly Oron, which is uber annoying. I think it depends on which forums you visit the most and which host(s) the poster(s) use the most frequently.

i have leeachers for all upload centers but i cant do anything with oron . does anybody now a leecher for this site ?

As I've heard Oron also bans IPs which have downloads alot from them - even with premium accounts. So lets say you paid your premium membership but they detect you have a high bandwith - like say 4 Mb/s they might just ban your IP even with their traffic restrictions.

Hotfile sucks

I had a hotfile premium account but got my password hack. Hotfile cancel my premium account. I stilled had six months left and they said it's my responsibility to keep password safe.

FileSonic has been crap for me. Just today, I clicked on a 300MB file; response said it would take an hour to download. So I left it, and when I returned about two hours later, it had changed to 10 hours (!), and was indeed moving at that rate.

This is in addition to 2, 4, 6-hour downloads it offers for relatively small files--150-250MB. Worse than free Rapidshare on a Sunday afternoon.

And yes, I'm paid and have cable broadband. Signed up April 6; won't renew.

I'm liking fsrv right now. But I'm keeping it monthly until further. I got a hotfile account and I kinda regret since after I did so, the litigations started pouring in. I tried Orn and that is not a good filehost at all.
