I got my ears pierced today and I really don't like the starter earrings. I bought a second pair at the piercing shop and the guy said to wait at least 2 days but he's had girls pierced who change them the next day. Everywhere I looked online said 4 to 6 weeks was the shortest wait time to change them for the first time. I wouldn't have them out for long, just clean the area and the earrings, take them out and the new ones in immediately. The new ones are surgical or stainless steel I can't remember which and are the same size as the starters. If I have to have the starters in for a month fine, their not that bad but I really like the second pair.

I don't see any problem changing the earrings. Just make sure they are the same gauge and they are surgical steel or gold. Also make sure you clean the piercings with alcohol and also clean the new earring posts before changing them. Make sure to keep a eye out for redness and any crust they can form. I had my nipples pierced a long time ago and they told me to keep turning the post to heal them faster

It depends... Are the piercings done with a "gun" or really pierced? If I remember correctly, the ones made with a "gun" should not be removed before their time, but if it is done by piercing, then it should be okay (I have 5 done by "gun" and 1 by piercing on my ears, so far ;) ). You can also go to there where you got them and ask if they could change them for you. That would be the safest thing to do.

the cartilage needs to heal around the stud that the person punched into your ear--got mine pierced years ago and swapped them out--turned out when I put the new ons in the cartilage hadn't healed and got infected as you know your ears aren't skin only it is mostly cartilage kind of like a gristle bone

I got my lobes pierced with a gun. I'm just going to wait the 4 weeks, I want to get some more piercings in my ears and I don't want to delay that by screwing it up and getting an infection or something. Thank you for the advice though.

I can't tolerate pain. It scares me to think if my earlobes get pierced. I myself am not into pierced men. Like long hair, piercing on ear reminds me of woman quality. I love my man "clean" ^_^

Even my homophobic Catholic-crazed uncle know that gay men wear ear rings.
