Sometimes there are composers who are able to put the essence of an era into music and Robert Schumann, although underestimated, is one of those.

finally somebody has uploaded a decent version of one of my fave cantatas, so I can post without of JSB - BWV 137 "Lobet den Herrn"
This version is with Ton Koopman, who had done the best cycle of cantatas in my opinion.
Still waiting for BWV 197 "Gott ist unsre Zuversicht", which still is only available in cheesy or schmaltzy recordings.
Have just listened to Shostakovich Piano Concerto No 2 in F Opus 102 - Andante (second movement). There aren't many slow movements more beautiful than this - check it out and I'm sure you'll agree
