Guys, here is another sparkling piece of the "Master of Sound Colours" - Richard Strauss - his famous tone poem "Don Juan".
I have chosen one of the best Strauss conductors - at least in my opinion
Herbert von Karajan is conducting "his" Berlin Philharmonic in a performance in Osaka 1984.
What I find so amazing is how Karajan "grabs" the music and gives it the energy and flow that is necessary to make it vivid.
I am actuall listening this piece as I luckily have even the full concert on DVD
and there is already a really fresh Strauss breeze in my room and some very nice pieces will follow
Luckily my neighbours are very polite
or they just love to get all the different pieces to listen every day
Here he is sparkling with energy with a fast polka of Johann Strauß
"Thunder & Lightning"
Damn, Carlos is just pure magic and ENERGY.
Just have a look in his face how he seems to explode and he inspires the orchestra so much.
This is just awesome and I am so sad that he recorded so little
Anyway, this little goody is my nighty night wish to all of you for today
The music of the Strauß dynasty is always bringing joy and I'm sure many of you know about the famous New Years Concert in Vienna every 1st of January
@ XMan: I think this one fits better to you for today
Hope you had a wonderful evening and enjoy the little majestic piece.
It is the introduction from "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" by Richard Strauss.
Maestro von Karajan is doing his best and the performance of the whole piece is just incredible. Well and if 5 trumpets aren't enough, then there are as well 5 trombones, 8 Horns and to give it a great bass line, there are 10 Double-Basses
I'm not kidding
I can gladly say that the walls of my home are still stable  and this piece is perfect to test how tolerant your neighbours are :thumbs up:

It brought back an anecdote, my Dad (when I was very young) used to say he'd drown out any noise the neighbors made with this piece and turn it up loud. Don't know if he ever did for that reason but remember it well bouncing off the walls
For today I want to post something from one of the sacral works of Joseph Haydn, the Stabat Mater. Most of the youtube recordings are either horribly bad or lack of sound quality, but I found this little peral:
Feeling like being in Italia although only for a little while
This evening the outstanding Sir Georg Solti brought
so much joy to me while I enjoyed a huge concert with him on DVD.
One part was Mendelssohn and his well known 4th symphony or probably better know as "Italian"
I will share the 1st movement here and damn, the energy is flowing and Solti has a marvellous way to make the music light and with that fresh breeze that is of course very welcome in this symphony
