Does anyone know of a program to convert .m4v files? I have tried a couple of programs that list this type of file but keep getting an error message. Clips play fine with VLC media player. Any help is appreciated.

You can use VLC to save video as well as playing it. Not simple, but possible. However, to convert mp4, I'd also recommend total video converter for windows as well. If you're using a Mac, get 'Perian' and quicktime can save in AVI for you as well.

Remember, if you are trying to convert to a "Home Theatre Profile" enabled DivX or Xvid file you are limited to a size of 720x?. If the original is bigger, you will need to reduce. And also bear in mind the original aspect ratio.
