Don't understand the game, but I believe it is only every 4 years? Is that right? But I do understand loosing! US looses to Ghana? It reminds me of that movie about a Jamaican Olympic Bobsled Team.... Sorry Germany, congrats Spain!

The World Cup is every 4 years. and in about 2 1/2 or 3 years starts the qualification again ^^

I remember Whitney Houston saying that soccer is a game for people who don't understand the rules of american football. That was in 1994.

I'd like to see her nowadays trying to understand the offside rule :p

Whoever changed the title (shame on him!!!) - to me Germany still rules!

Well there will always be a time to win and a time to lose.

But although Germany lost this time, to me it will remain Nr. 1.

LOL Whitney has been a non issue since that statement! "Crack is for poor people, we freebase"... I will never forget that interview! LOL And you are right. No American (well maybe one or two) could engage in a discussion about the offside rule. We would confuse it with on on side kick!

First of all congratulations to Spain :) Spain played a great match and they beat the Germans fair.

Second, I am so sorry Germany lost the semi finals, I, and the majority of the Dutch people, would have loved it that Germany had won so there would have been a final Holland-Germany...

Oh well, it just a game so Spain here we come :)

Thanks to the "mothercity" (Kaapstad/Capetown) for the great times Pretoria please prepare for the orange crowds :)

Spanish Braised Octopus in Paprika Sauce :devil:

This is a very simple recipe once you have prepped your octopus for finishing -- instructions are linked below. Basically you braise the octopus in its own juices, then cut it into pieces and dress it with a paprika-garlic sauce when it is still warm. This is a variant of a Spanish recipe known as "a la gallega." Any size octopus will work with this recipe, which serves 4 as a starter or tapas.
Prep Time: 3 hours, 30 minutes
Total Time: 3 hours, 30 minutes
Ingredients:

* 1-2 pounds octopus
* 1/2 t. salt
* 1 t. black pepper
* 3 chopped garlic cloves
* 1 T. sweet paprika
* 1/2 cup olive oil
* 2-3 lemons

Preparation:

Braise your octopus as directed in the instructions below.

Meanwhile, put the salt, pepper, paprika and garlic in a mortar and pound it until it is a paste. Slowly add the olive oil, stirring and mashing all the while. If you don't have a mortar and pestle, you could use a food processor, but the texture will be different.

When the octopus is tender and still warm, cut into chunks, put into a large bowl and toss with the sauce. Squeeze the juice of 1 lemon into the bowl and toss to combine.

Serve warm or at room temperature with slices of lemon.

p.s. My proposal was only a joke. Please don't cook Paul! :rofl:

WHY NOT! He knew where he lived and he sold you out...FRY that OCTOPI I say!!!;) ok...also kidding but I'm guessing Paul might be sleeping with the fishes soon regardless - although I DO want to hear his Championship game pick!

ps- I also think relying on an Octopus for your World Cup picks is slightly insane but it DOES seem to be working so I'm all for it....fuck it...if I had 8 arms I'd feel good about myself too! (Shit now I sound like Bugsy....i'm out!)

PEACE!:)

lol I also thought it's kinda insane, but... until now Paul was always right :p

Let's see if Paul's new prognoses will become true.

Paul the Octopus predicts Germany win over Uruguay

Final bet: Oracle Paul the Octopus picks Spain over Netherlands to win World Cup

Imagine that... a single octopus in a little sea life aquarium makes the whole world press go crazy.

Btw, he always chooses the flag with the biggest yellow part. That's why he choose Spain over Germany. They have more yollow in the flag.
And I know we have not yellow we have gold *looking at the usual suspect*

And I also think that the Netherlands will win.

We have a little bet-game in our company and by predicting the Netherlands playing against Uruguay 3:2, I won a hot stone grill ^^

Except that he chose Germany over Spain in 2008 (and was wrong). Also:
"According to Janet Voight at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, there is no evidence that octopuses have colour vision."

Let's go back to the basis. Football is a physical and emotional fight between the players. It is touching to see grown men cry of emotion. For them there is at that particular moment absolutely no money involved.
I do not bother much about journalists, octopussies and other James Bond stage properties.
My congratulations to Germany and deep respect for the fighting spirit of Uruguay. I cross my fingers for the Dutch.
