Can any of you tell me the difference between a download of say "Human Planet" of 550 MB XVID and TVX264 1500 MB.The XVID plays fine on DVD So what is the advantage of the higher download?
I have just found out that a movie with say 3000 MB will play at a higher resolution on a BLU ray player but the first two mentioned are both HD so whats the difference?
I would be grateful for any imput from you guys.

There are different codecs for different purposes. If you have a large file you can usually expect a higher quality of the movie: e.g. higher resolution, less artifacts or a less pixelated movie. This is just because the encoder can store more information in the file, thus gaining better quality. But sometimes you download a large file, and the quality is still weak. This is because some people rip the movies using a weak encoder program. A good program can achieve a better quality just because the encoding algorithms are better. This is just the same as with mp3 files: some sound very good and some don't. You never know before.

I'm afraid you can only download the file of your choice and see if it is ok. Sometimes the movie previews give you an idea about the quality, and many posters also post the resolution. A high resolution movie *usually* looks better.

Also look for quality posters/release groups when downloading these files.

Hi,
if you need to convert an ISO file to a playable CD you can use most CD burning programs. If you need a free good program for Windoze just google for "imgburn". "Write mode" allows you to burn ISO images, "Build mode" allows you to burn *ripped* media to a disc.

ISO files

Thanks Guys,
I have burnt the ISO file to disc OK with Burn4free which I usually use but the ISO will not play in a player.I tried a computer game once and that
was the same.

I just tried IMGBURN with great success.Very easy and as you said free.It played fine in a BLu ray player but may not have worked in ordinary player as file was 4.26GB.I'll try to do a computer game now.
Many thanks Guys.
