Hi, I am Dutch. I am from the eastern part of The Netherlands. My region is Twente, a part of Overijssel. Very nice people over here. They have their own language:
"Bie oons kunt ze geweldig leuk kuiern an 'n niendeur of an 'n kuierdroad" (local language)
"Bij ons kunnen hardstikke leuk kletsen aan de deur of aan de telefoon" (translated to Dutch)
"We are able to talk nice at the door or at the telephone" (translated to English)
"Wir reden sehr Gemütlich an der Tür oder am Telefon" (übersetzt in Deutsch für Kai)

ahh Tjerk is toch typisch Nederlandse naam? 
I have a good friend from Friesland and his name is Tjerk. When I first came to Holland I had difficulty to pronounce the name correctly but now I'm pro ^__^
So if you are from Twente which city exactly is it? Almelo?

Sounded a lot like English when I lived there. Many word roots are the same too.

Actually - that's because English is half Dutch - the Anglo bit of Anglo-Saxon is from what is now the Netherlands. If you stick to talking about things agricultural, you'll be Shocked how similar Dutch and English still are - they're very closely related languages.
