Editing software?

I have a few full length movies that I only keep for just one fav hot scene and could do with editing them out to make them easier to find and save on storage space.

I used to use virtualdub but my copy seems to have got corrupted (and I didn't find it the easiest of programs to use) so I need a replacement.

Any recommendations for easy to use FREE editing software?

I use Freemake Video Convertor. It's really simple to use for editing out scenes from longer movies and converts to a number of differnt formats. Downloaded it from their website and never had any problems. Best of all, as it's name suggests, it's free!

I simply use Quicktime Player - works a treat. You can even save several disjointed clips and reassemble into a final piece.

One issue I have found with these is that it seems impossible to d/load them without automatically having to d/load up to 7 other software programs or toolbars that I don't want.:duh:

i have used and tried many video editing apps, including many pro apps for paid work .. and for the type of purpose you describe i keep going back to mpeg streamclip

beautifully simple - just select in and select out to define your desired clip and then export to a myriad of formats, resolutions etc ... even with apps like fcp at my disposal i keep coming back to this one because of it's ease of use, plentiful options and reliability ... and it's cross platform and works with nearly all formats

ps - it uses the quicktime engine, so if you don't already have qt, it's only one more free download, and you can be assured that with qt the quality is at a premium

if you only want to cut out a scene from a movie i do recommend Boilsoft Video Splitter
its quick and no quality loss because it keeps the AV parameters.

here's a portable version I found in the net, u can install an run it on a USB stick or from any other place
